Student answer (Band 6.5)
In some zones of the United States, youngsters are prohibited from leaving their homes, especially at night, unless they are with someone over eighteen. I believe that the government should protect teenagers from crimes, drugs, and
unethical nightlife. However, I also believe that the government should give freedom to youngsters to enjoy nightlife and should not impose a curfew on the whole teen generation because some are coming from activities or work.
To commence with, teenagers are part of our world's economy and the pillars of our future generation. Therefore, they must be protected from crimes, violence, and accidents, owing to the consumption of drugs and alcohol. For example, the government of China implemented a curfew in 2019 that teens should not be allowed outside their door particular at night, which results, reduction in drug consumption and accidents at night.
Nevertheless, teenagers should not be restricted from enjoying nightlife. Governments should give them freedom to live life independently, and not all generations are the same, and they should not be judged equally. Many students are working night shifts, and some are coming back home from work. For Instance, if the goverments baneed to all teenagers, that might be opposite results such as teenagers protesting against the government, and it might become out of control.
In my opinion, the central bodies should not impose the curfew; instead, they should provide night security and provide public transport, particularly on weekends. In addition, the higher authority ought to take action on the sale of drugs which teen are protected from consuming them and parents can get relief.
In conclusion, although protecting teenagers from crime and harmful activities is important, a strict curfew for the entire teenage population is not the best solution. Governments should focus on improving public safety while allowing reasonable freedom for young people who have legitimate reasons to be outside at night.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. You acknowledge the benefits of curfews while arguing against their universal application, which provides a balanced perspective. The ideas are relevant, such as the mention of working teenagers and the potential for social unrest. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the example regarding China is a bit vague and could be better integrated to support your argument more effectively. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are more precisely linked to the specific arguments you are making about the US context.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Nevertheless', and 'In conclusion' to signal the progression of your argument. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition from the discussion of China to the next paragraph is slightly abrupt. Additionally, the use of referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the connection between ideas could be more tightly managed to improve the overall flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'prohibited', 'unethical', and 'legitimate reasons'. There are some attempts to use less common vocabulary, though some word choices are slightly awkward, such as 'central bodies' instead of 'local authorities' or 'government'. There are also minor errors in word formation and collocation, such as 'goverments baneed to all teenagers'. While these errors do not impede communication, they do limit the precision of your expression. Expanding your range of collocations and refining your word choice will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully convey your meaning, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with article usage, subject-verb agreement, and sentence construction (e.g., 'which results, reduction in drug consumption' and 'teen are protected from consuming them'). These errors are noticeable but rarely impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and try to incorporate a wider variety of complex structures, such as conditional sentences or relative clauses, with greater precision to demonstrate better control over your writing.
