Student answer (Band 7.0)
In some parts of US, adolescents are restricted from going outdoor late night, unless they are supervised by grown-ups. This is widely seen in other developing countries as well where parents are worried about their childrens' safety. In my opinion, although teenagers should be given full freedom, some restrictions are justified.
The primary catalyst behind this phenomenon is the escalating rate of crime which may create formidable situations for children. This is because with rapidly rising incidents of child abduction, rape, extortion and murder, it is justified for families and officials to stay vigilant. Teenagers are immature and might not be able to escape from such vulnerable situations by themselves, thus it is better to avoid unnecessary late nights for their safety.
Another contributing factor is that parents want to safeguard their children by preventing them getting into wrong company. It is wise to prevent them from going to nightclubs and avoiding company of friends who abuse drugs and alcohol. For instance, it is widely seen that notorious drug dealers supply banned drugs to youth in the nightclubs. Therefore, if we restrict youth from going there at night, we can prevent them from falling prey to such predictors. Furthermore, this trend ensures teenagers get good 8-10 hours of sleep which is critical for their physical and intellectual development. While it helps them to rest and recover, it also allows them to get up early morning and do sports or study as per their interests.
To sum up, in my view restricting teenagers from getting out at night helps protect them from late-night safety risks, prevent exposure to peer pressure regarding drugs and alcohol, and ensures they get adequate sleep which assists in their physical and mental development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating an opinion in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant and well-supported with logical arguments regarding safety, peer influence, and health. The development is consistent, and the position is clear. To reach a higher band, the student could provide more specific examples or nuanced counter-arguments to further extend the depth of the discussion. However, the current response is well-focused and directly answers the question asked.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is smooth. Cohesive devices such as 'The primary catalyst', 'Another contributing factor', 'For instance', and 'To sum up' are used effectively to link ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct arguments. The flow is natural, and the reader can easily follow the writer's line of reasoning throughout the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is generally appropriate and demonstrates a good range for the task. Phrases like 'formidable situations', 'escalating rate of crime', and 'falling prey to such predictors' show an attempt to use more sophisticated language. There are minor issues with word choice, such as 'predictors' instead of 'predators' and 'getting into wrong company' (missing 'the'). Despite these occasional inaccuracies, the meaning is always clear, and the range is sufficient to convey complex ideas effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There is good control over grammar, though some minor errors persist, such as 'in some parts of US' (missing 'the'), 'childrens' safety' (incorrect plural possessive), and 'preventing them getting into' (should be 'from getting into'). These errors do not impede communication. The use of complex structures like conditional sentences and relative clauses is generally accurate. With more attention to articles and prepositions, the accuracy would be even higher.
