Student answer (Band 6.5)
It has been widely observed that in recent years, crimes involving young people have been increasing. There is a split opinion regarding homebound teens at certain times of the day, particularly after sunset. Some believe that this is acceptable, keeping them home because of rising illegal activity, while another group of thinkers support that they should be free to do whatever they want. However, both has it's own pros and cons. Therefore, before commenting on my decision, both opinions would be discussed.
Examining the former opinion, the primary argument the supporter would put forward is influence, as most of today's generation are socially active, following trends which are not appropriate. A good example of this is the rising culture of late-night parties and night outs. In addition, they also believe that drugs are the major factor. The reason is the easy availability due to the growing economic crisis, so many individuals sell illegal substances without checking the age. This leads to serious crimes.
On the contrary, the latter view suggests that children become rebellious if they are kept at home. Moreover, they try to do the opposite of whatever is good for them because this generation want to live there life with full freedom. Beside this they also believe that this will make them more introvert as well as they fear to go out at nights alone by themselves. In fact, in recent years it has been observed that teenagers are becoming more introverted and try to avoid their surroundings.
To conclude and give my opinion, I would say that although curfews may limit the freedom of teenagers to some extent, I believe that they are necessary for their safety. In the big picture, this will protect teenagers while still giving them some independence.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. You have identified both sides of the argument and provided a personal opinion in the conclusion. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the point about 'economic crisis' leading to drug availability is a bit tangential and not fully linked to the curfew argument. To reach a higher band, ensure that every supporting point directly reinforces your stance on the curfew itself rather than general societal issues. The ideas are relevant, but they could be more deeply explored with more specific examples or logical chains of reasoning.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'On the contrary', and 'To conclude' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or repetitive. For example, the phrase 'Beside this' is used incorrectly (should be 'Besides this'), and the flow between the second and third paragraphs could be smoother. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas throughout the text. The referencing is generally clear, though some minor improvements in the variety of cohesive devices would enhance the overall flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'rebellious', 'introverted', and 'illegal substances'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation that slightly hinder precision. For example, 'live there life' should be 'live their lives', and 'another group of thinkers support' is slightly unnatural phrasing. You attempt to use less common vocabulary, but the control is not always consistent. To improve, focus on using collocations more accurately and ensuring that word forms (e.g., 'introvert' vs 'introverted') are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally distract the reader. Notable errors include 'both has it's own' (should be 'both have their own'), 'there life' (should be 'their lives'), and 'fear to go out at nights' (should be 'fear going out at night'). Subject-verb agreement and possessive pronoun usage are areas that require more attention. Despite these errors, the meaning is generally clear, and the grammar does not significantly impede communication.
