Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is an undeniable fact that, crime rate is increasing day by day at an alarming rate and need an immediate actions. However, In few region of the US, the government imposed a curfew and make a restriction regarding the youth are not allowed to move out at the night even the assistance of the adult. As far as I am concerned there a number of reasons behind this phenomenon that I will explain with my opinion in the upcoming paragraphs.

To commence with the causes, the major point is that teenagers are young blood they get angry within a second without knowing the root cause of the problem that create a huge panic in the situation and it become worse. Another thing is that, adolescents like to do party at night in a restaurants or club where lots of crowd occur and various illegal things happening such as kidnapping, drugs marketing and many more that plays an important role to unbalance the peace of the country.

According to my point of my opinion, authority should have to make a strict regulations and allow youngsters to out at night only with the accompany of the adult because they have knowledge and experience to tackle the situation. With this teenagers get a opportunity to learn how to behave in a public if curfew imposed in a city without breaking the rules.

In the summation, although restrictions is making for the betterment of the nation but sometime it hinder the personal growth of the individual that can be enhance only by the experience a things.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by providing an opinion on curfews for teenagers. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention that teenagers are 'young blood' and prone to anger, this point is not fully extended or supported with clear, logical examples. The argument regarding the benefits of adult supervision is present but remains superficial. To improve, you should focus on providing more detailed explanations and concrete examples to support your position. The conclusion is a bit contradictory, as it introduces a new point about personal growth that was not previously discussed, which weakens the overall coherence of your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, 'To commence with the causes' and 'In the summation' are used, but the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'that create a huge panic in the situation', where the antecedent is vague. The logical progression of ideas is hindered by these issues, making the reader work harder to follow your line of reasoning. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring they are used naturally would improve the score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'drugs marketing', 'unbalance the peace', and 'accompany of the adult'. These errors occasionally impede the natural flow of the text. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'regulations' and 'adolescents', the overall range is limited. To reach a higher band, focus on learning common collocations and using more sophisticated synonyms to express your ideas more accurately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'crime rate is increasing... and need an immediate actions'), article usage (e.g., 'in a restaurants'), and prepositional errors (e.g., 'allow youngsters to out'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy, such as pluralisation and verb forms, will help improve your score significantly.
