Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which negatively impacts the task achievement score. While you clearly state your position in the introduction, the development of ideas is limited and often unclear. For instance, the example regarding New York City is confusing and lacks a logical connection to the argument about curfews. Furthermore, the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly in the final paragraph without a proper conclusion. To improve, ensure you fully develop your arguments with clear, relevant examples and provide a comprehensive conclusion that summarizes your main points while meeting the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay lacks a clear logical progression. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the ideas within the paragraphs are disjointed and difficult to follow. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or misused, such as 'In recapitulate' and 'In my opinion, I firmly agree with this view and propound'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to track the argument. To improve, focus on using transition words more naturally and ensure each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that supports your overall position.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often inaccurate, which hinders the clarity of your message. You use some ambitious words, such as 'propound' and 'stringent', but they are often used in incorrect contexts or collocations. Phrases like 'crime victim places' and 'react instant' are unnatural and impede communication. There is also significant repetition of basic vocabulary. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and using words that you are confident are appropriate for the context. Avoid using complex words if you are not certain of their precise meaning.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often make the text difficult to understand. There are issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'government has to take' and 'teenager were totally ban'. Sentence structures are often fragmented or run-on, such as the long, confusing sentence in the introduction. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with commas used incorrectly to join independent clauses. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring you have a clear subject and verb in every sentence, and proofreading for common errors like article usage and verb tense consistency.
