Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons, such as crime reduction and road safety, and supported them with examples. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The introduction is fragmented and lacks a complete thesis statement, and the conclusion is abrupt, ending mid-sentence. To reach a higher band, ensure that your introduction clearly outlines your stance and that your conclusion provides a cohesive summary of your main points. The ideas are relevant, but the depth of analysis could be improved by avoiding over-generalizations and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, fully developed focus.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'Nevertheless' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate. For instance, the transition between the introduction and the first body paragraph is disjointed due to the incomplete sentence at the end of the intro. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'some tender get used to', which is grammatically confusing. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'vulnerable', 'safeguard', and 'colossal'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'criminal activities like robbery, stabbing took place in Florida was conducted by the youngsters' and 'end many innocent life'. These errors occasionally make the meaning slightly less precise. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensure you are using words in the correct context. While you attempt to use less common vocabulary, the inaccuracies prevent a higher score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'some law imposed', 'younger drive'), article usage (e.g., 'In some part of United States'), and pluralization (e.g., 'many innocent life'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the incomplete final sentence. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors is noticeable. To progress, focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that your sentences are complete and grammatically sound.
