Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the curfew and providing a clear opinion. The ideas are relevant, focusing on safety and crime reduction. However, the development is somewhat repetitive; the arguments regarding 'safety' and 'crime' overlap significantly, and the explanation lacks depth or specific real-world examples beyond general statements. While the position is clear throughout, the supporting points could be more varied to fully explore the implications of such a policy. To reach a higher band, you should aim to provide more nuanced arguments, perhaps considering the impact on teenage independence or the practical challenges of enforcement, rather than repeating the same points about safety in different ways.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Another persuasive argument', and 'As a result' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as in the sentence 'limiting some hours at night better had provide protection', which is syntactically awkward and disrupts the logical progression. Overall, the information is arranged coherently, but the use of cohesive devices could be more natural and varied to improve the flow between sentences.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the message to be conveyed clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'supervision', 'compelling', and 'phenomenon'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'impending essay' (which is incorrect; 'impending' refers to something negative about to happen), 'more safer' (a double comparative error), and 'negative companies' (where 'bad influences' or 'negative peer groups' would be more natural). The range is sufficient for the task, but the lack of precision and occasional awkward collocations prevent a higher score. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise academic collocations would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'they should have company of an adult' (missing article), 'one of the compelling argument is' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'if have to stay outside' (missing subject). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but the sentence structure is sometimes clunky, such as 'better had provide protection'. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, article usage, and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately. The current level of error is noticeable but does not fundamentally impede communication.
