Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 3.0
The response fails to address the prompt regarding teenage curfews. Instead, it discusses protests and political agendas, which is entirely off-topic. Furthermore, the response is significantly under the 250-word minimum requirement, reaching only 91 words. Because the essay does not engage with the specific question about curfews and is severely underdeveloped, it does not meet the criteria for a passing band score. To improve, you must carefully read the prompt, ensure your arguments directly relate to the specific topic provided, and expand your ideas to meet the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The essay is too short to demonstrate effective paragraphing or a logical progression of ideas. While there is a basic attempt at an introduction, the transition to the body paragraph is abrupt and the content does not follow a coherent argument related to the prompt. Cohesive devices are minimal and do not effectively link ideas. To improve, you should focus on structuring your essay with a clear introduction, distinct body paragraphs that each explore a specific point, and a concluding summary, using linking words like 'furthermore' or 'consequently' to connect your thoughts.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'very vital' and 'appropriate knowledge' are functional but lack the range and precision expected at higher levels. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'protests scenario' and 'politician influenced kid's thoughts,' which sound unnatural. To improve, you should aim to use more academic vocabulary and precise collocations. Focus on learning synonyms for common words and practice using them in context to enhance the sophistication of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains several grammatical errors that hinder clarity. For example, 'Youngsters safety' lacks a possessive apostrophe, and 'People usually makes' contains a subject-verb agreement error. The sentence structures are simple, and there is a lack of complex sentence forms. To improve, you should review basic grammar rules, particularly subject-verb agreement and the use of possessives. Additionally, try to incorporate a variety of sentence structures, such as using relative clauses or conditional sentences, to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
