Student answer (Band 6.0)
In some parts of united states, teenagers are not permitted to go outside after a certain time at night unless they have company of an adult. Although this type of curfew my restrict young people's freedom , i believe it is a generally a positive measure from any danger. In the up-coming paragraph i am going to discuss about my opinion and some reason about the given statement.
To begin with, first and foremost reason for imposing curfew is to improve safety of young people. late night teenagers may be more exposed to risk such as crime, accidents, or other involvement with harmful activities. Since adolescents often have less experience than adults to dealing with dangerous situations, limiting their movements during certain hours can reduce these risks. For instance, a teenager returning home alone late at night may be more noticeable for theft and harassment as compared to someone travelling earlier in the evening with friends and family.
moving forward, curfew can help parent supervise their children more effectively . Encourage them to develop better routines and understand the importance of following rules. It can also discourage young people from spending excessive amounts of time outside late night, which may negatively affect their sleep , studies and family relationship.
however, i do not think curfews should be excessively strict, teenagers should gradually learn to make independence decisions, and there are some reasonable reason to stay outside like evening classes, working part time or travelling from family events parents and authorities allow reasonable exceptions when appropriate.
To conclude that, although nighttime curfew's can limit teenagers' independence , I believe they are beneficial when applied reasonably they can protect young from danger.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear opinion that the curfew is a positive measure while acknowledging the need for flexibility. The ideas are relevant, such as safety and parental supervision, and are supported by examples like the risks of theft or the impact on sleep. However, the development is somewhat basic. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why' and 'how' of your arguments with more depth. For instance, you could elaborate on how specific societal changes have necessitated these curfews. The position is consistent throughout the essay, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5 or 7.0 level of task response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with,' 'moving forward,' and 'however' to guide the reader. However, the transitions are sometimes a bit mechanical, and there are minor issues with punctuation and sentence flow, such as the run-on sentence in the conclusion: 'To conclude that, although nighttime curfew's can limit teenagers' independence , I believe they are beneficial when applied reasonably they can protect young from danger.' Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring proper punctuation would enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'adolescents,' 'supervise,' and 'harassment.' There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'make independence decisions' (should be 'independent decisions') and 'reasonable reason' (repetitive). The vocabulary is generally sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but it lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('in some parts of united states'), subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. For example, 'curfew my restrict' (typo for 'may') and 'curfew's' (incorrect possessive/plural). Additionally, some sentences are fragmented or lack necessary prepositions. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and ensuring consistent use of articles and verb forms.
