Student answer (Band 6.5)

These days some cities are under curfew in a US country in which youngsters face restrictions for night out after some period of time or they are allowed to go out with their elders. According to my opinion, late night roaming around the cities alone should be prohibited for young age people .There are myriad reasons that i will explain in upcoming paragraph to support my opinion.

To begin with, in this present period , there is no safety while walking alone through the streets. For instance, if a person is coming from a work late night or going anywhere during night , they will not feel safe because of increasing population of homeless which result in robbery or any irrelevant action happen to them because of these people .Hence, there is a risk to their life as well.

Moreover, at this stage of life , most of the youngsters are not enough mature to understand which is good or which is bad decision for them .Mostly , they are influenced from their friends to do any thing which is not legal or not even safe and secure for their future. To illustrate, a group of friends are enjoying late night parties and start consuming alcohols and smokes by influencing each other which results in destroying their career. Not only ruin their future, but also feels disconnected from studies which impacts their academic growth and might have a chances to be fail in their class.

To sum up, what government of a country need to do is to take strict actions against a person who is not having a genuine excuse for late night outing. Additionally, parents should also check their children schedule like where they are or what they are doing. According to my perspective, curfew is an important part for the country's safety and peace at night .

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on safety and the maturity of teenagers. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding 'homeless' populations is a broad generalization that lacks nuance, and the discussion on peer pressure could be more deeply explored with more specific examples. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments would benefit from more sophisticated reasoning to reach a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points and provides a clear final stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'To sum up' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, but there are instances where the flow between sentences feels a bit disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their opinions clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'myriad' and 'prohibited', which are used correctly. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'young age people' instead of 'young people' or 'teenagers', and 'irrelevant action' which does not accurately convey the intended meaning of 'criminal activity' or 'harm'. The range is sufficient for the task but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with articles ('the US country'), subject-verb agreement ('government... need to do'), and preposition usage ('at night' vs 'in the night'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some spacing errors before commas and periods. While the errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy would be beneficial.
