Student answer (Band 5.5)

There is A lot of restrictions due to different reasons for public safety. If there is curfew for young children for certein time in us it has a reason behind this statement . i agree with this statement what i think i explain in my upcoming paragraphs.

Firstly, If government decide a rule it is very important to follow for the youth. Sometimes its not save for the children to go out specially at late night but they are not listen to their parents and go out until late night. So if their is curfew they have to follow the rule . For example, in India government said to all country do not get out from your home but people did not listened and still came out but than government was announced the curfew in corona time and set a fine that people did not came out and its a good decision to tackle the problem.

Secondly, In young age there is more chances to influnced by bad things such as drugs , clubing or drink and drive teenagers prefer to do this kinds of stuff due to their age if their is curfew and they are not allowed to go out its a good point to save them from bad habbits and save them from major accidents. If its rule by government they avoid by their self to go out and its also not create any misunderstanding between youngters and their parents.

overall, I think its a good idea to control mishappening and for safety fot the teenagers . In this age they are not capable to take their decidions by their own wisely.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear opinion in favor of curfews. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide reasons such as safety and preventing bad habits, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. The example regarding the COVID-19 lockdown in India is somewhat tangential, as it focuses on public health mandates rather than teenage curfews. To improve, ensure that each paragraph introduces a distinct, well-supported point that directly relates to the specific context of teenage behavior and parental responsibility.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'So if their is curfew' or 'than government was announced'. There is a lack of variety in linking words, and the progression of ideas within paragraphs feels disjointed at times. Improving the use of transition signals (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', 'in addition') and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would significantly improve the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'bad', and 'stuff'. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'mishappening' instead of 'misconduct' or 'accidents', and 'influnced' (spelling error). While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'curfew' and 'teenagers', the range is not sufficient to express complex ideas with precision. To reach a higher band, focus on learning collocations and using more academic synonyms for common words.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('government decide', 'they are not listen'), article usage ('in us', 'in corona time'), and sentence structure (run-on sentences and comma splices). While you attempt some complex structures, they are often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and pay closer attention to verb tenses and pluralization.
