Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is 'curfew' imposed in some parts of united states of America, Where young people cannot go out after sunset unless a grown family member is with them. I believe that this is a positive move by the authorities for safety of teenagers and to prevent teenager related crimes and accidents.

First of all, it is crucial step towards the safety of younger people. With the company of an adult it is unlikely for someone to assault teenager or take advantage of them. If they go alone at night it is very easy for criminals to target them, because they are not fully mature and cannot handle the situation as an adult can do. Apart from that it may also prevent road accident, for example a teenager driving a car with fresh license is more likely to meet a road accident as compare to an old driver.more It also may improve younger people's sleeping schedule and can help them to set their routine, as some teenagers do like to stay up all nights and do parties. This is worst for their mental wellbeing. By staying home at night they will go to bed early and gonna have better sleep.

Moreover, It can also reduce the number of crimes committed by teenagers. Night is the only time when crimes are more likely to commit such as drugs unsafe driving races. If nobody they are not allowed to go out without being accompanied by an adult, they can stay out of these criminal activities.

In conclusion, I believe that restricting teenagers for going out alone is a good step by the government. Because it is important for their safety as well as mental wellbeing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in favor of the curfew. The ideas are relevant, covering safety, accident prevention, and crime reduction. However, the development of these points is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'road accidents' is a bit generalized, and the link between curfews and 'mental wellbeing' is asserted rather than fully explained. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific examples or deeper reasoning for each point. The position is consistent throughout, but the overall development lacks the depth required for a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a basic progression of ideas from safety to crime reduction. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'First of all', 'Moreover', 'In conclusion'). Additionally, some transitions are awkward, such as 'more It also may improve', which disrupts the flow. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'If nobody they are not allowed to go out', where the subject pronoun usage is confusing. Improving the variety and precision of linking words would enhance the coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. You use some relevant terms like 'authorities', 'wellbeing', and 'criminal activities', but there are also instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'fresh license' instead of 'newly qualified driver' or 'do parties' instead of 'attend parties'. There are also minor errors in collocation and phrasing, such as 'teenager related crimes' (should be 'teen-related' or 'crimes committed by teenagers'). To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and a wider range of topic-specific vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. Issues include missing articles ('in some parts of united states'), incorrect verb forms ('crimes are more likely to commit' instead of 'be committed'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences are clunky, such as 'If nobody they are not allowed to go out', which is grammatically incoherent. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. You should focus on subject-verb agreement, correct use of articles, and ensuring that complex sentences are constructed accurately.
