Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is a very serious event now days very discussing in Us and even in other countries. I would like to share my opinions on this topic in further paragraphs.
First of all, It might be better for the teenagers to stay at home during the periods of curfew because It is really danger for youngsters because It would not be difficult for their physical health but also for their mental health. That types of situation creates negative effects on mind. For example, recent studies shows that in 2005, there was curfew in the India and during that time reports from psychologist says that 60% of teenagers suffered from the anxiety and depression.
Moreover, these types of situations creates the adverse effects in their studies. By focusing in this situation they can't do their homework and exam preparation effectively. In my opinion, I think youngsters also learn things which can prevent their positive growth. Furthermore, if they want to go out they can go with their parents and other adults so that Parents can protect their children and they can teach them right and wrong from their experience.
However, sometime it might be difficult for parents and other adult to control the teenagers and keep them inside the house because they are very stubborn at that age. At this time, Parents could teach their children that safety is very important for them and going outside is extremely danger for them.
In conclusion, children should stay at home during the time of curfew and stay safe.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by expressing an opinion on curfews for teenagers. However, the development of ideas is limited. The argument regarding the negative impact of curfews on mental health is somewhat confusing, as it suggests the curfew itself causes anxiety rather than the lack of freedom or the underlying social issues. The example provided regarding India in 2005 is vague and lacks sufficient detail to be persuasive. While a position is maintained throughout, the supporting arguments are repetitive and lack depth, preventing the response from reaching a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'First of all', 'Moreover', 'Furthermore'). Some transitions between sentences are abrupt, and the logical flow within paragraphs is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing. For instance, the transition from discussing mental health to academic performance lacks a smooth connection. While the paragraphing is functional, the overall progression of ideas could be more sophisticated and better linked to create a more cohesive argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'very discussing' instead of 'discussed' and 'really danger' instead of 'dangerous'. The repetition of basic terms like 'teenagers', 'parents', and 'situations' limits the lexical variety. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of more sophisticated vocabulary and the presence of collocation errors (e.g., 'creates the adverse effects') indicate a limited range that struggles to convey complex ideas effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they are often marred by grammatical errors, such as 'recent studies shows' (subject-verb agreement) and 'that types of situation' (determiner error). Punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with the unnecessary capitalisation of words like 'It', 'Parents', and 'India'. These errors are frequent and occasionally distract the reader, although they do not completely impede communication. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and refining the use of complex sentence structures.
