Student answer (Band 5.5)
Task - 2
Due to a strong clash between the Russia and the USA, the President Donald Trump has recently imposed a curfew in which teenagers are prohibited to be out of their houses after 9 pm at night unless they are accompanied by their parents or any adult guardian. Through this essay I would discuss my opinions and effects of this decision.
To begin with, as we all know due to clash of thoughts on tariffs or taxes, a huge war has been initiated between these two countries. I believe things have gone out of hand for both the sides. So, it would not be safe for teenagers to go out at night. Its a very wise decision by the honourable president of the US to impose this curfew. In my opinion, there is no such important work which can only be completed after 9 pm only. Also they are allowed to go out in case of any emergency but only when they have a company of an adult.
Furthermore, they can use this crucial time to have fun with their families. As these wars are an eye-opener for us that life is too unpredictable and one should spend their beautiful moments with their loved ones. For example, teenagers can play games with their siblings or family members. Government has also launched a new series on television 'The Space Mission', so the whole family can binge watch it together which will boost their knowledge. Due to fast paced life and increase in western culture, parents barely find any time to spend with their children. So, they can utilise this time to improve their connection with them.
To conclude, we know its not the favourable time for common people. So, teenagers should be safe at home after 9pm and parents should strictly take care of this. However, they can boost their moral and emotional connection during this time. We all hope this too shall pass and everyone should be safe.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt, but it suffers from a significant misunderstanding of the context. The essay treats the curfew as a specific, real-world reaction to a 'war' between the US and Russia, which is factually incorrect and irrelevant to the general social issue posed by the prompt. While you present a clear position, the development of ideas is hampered by this misinterpretation. You provide some relevant points about family time and safety, but the focus on a non-existent geopolitical conflict distracts from the core task of discussing the social implications of curfews for teenagers.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'To conclude' to signal the structure. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes disjointed due to the reliance on the inaccurate premise regarding the US-Russia conflict. Referencing is generally clear, but the flow between the political context and the social argument about family time is not always smooth, making the overall argument feel somewhat fragmented.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your opinions clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'prohibited', 'guardian', and 'unpredictable'. However, there is a lack of more sophisticated or precise vocabulary that would elevate the response. Some word choices are slightly awkward, such as 'clash of thoughts' or 'take care of this'. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and varied synonyms to avoid repetition and demonstrate a wider range of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the Russia' (incorrect article usage), 'accompanied to be out' (awkward phrasing), and 'have a company of an adult' (incorrect collocation). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors like 'Its' instead of 'It's'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they occur frequently enough to limit the score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring accuracy in articles and prepositions is recommended.
