Student answer (Band 6.0)

Compared to the Past, the situation around the globe has rapidly worsened, specifically in the United States. At the same time, the government has already established rules for youngsters not to leave the house alone in Public places after sunset. In my opinion, this act is only to protect the younger generation of the United States although I believe that the government should ease up on restrictions by implementing alternative policies of being under the surveillance of adults.

First and foremost, one of the most influential aspects that plays a significant role in youngsters' lives is social media platforms. To explain, many famous people such as national TV stars or social media influencer are often organise meet-ups. As a result, there have been several reports of street violence between groups of youths. Thus, having the company of Adults can protect their teenagers but also, allow them to enjoy themselves.

Taking another aspect of consideration, as i mention earlier that social platforms play a vast role in spreading negative influence. In other words, many powerful individuals use this particular way to influence their negativity on other people reputation. The best example can be seen in political, as numbers of news we often hear how about the ruling party influence youngsters by providing gifts and becoming sponsors of festivals held by Youngsters.

All in all, in my experience, there is no wonder that these strict rules are only to protect teenagers. although not allowing them completely would might go against the government therefore, it is indeed important for the government to implement some new policies of protection of public areas as well as allowing adults to let their teenagers to go along with themselves.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by stating a clear position on the curfew issue. However, the development of ideas is somewhat inconsistent. While the first body paragraph links social media to street violence, the second paragraph is less focused, drifting into a vague discussion about political influence and negative reputation, which does not clearly support the argument regarding curfews. The conclusion attempts to summarize the position but remains slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that every paragraph directly supports your central argument with clear, logical reasoning rather than introducing tangential topics.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'First and foremost', 'As a result', and 'All in all' are used to link sentences and paragraphs. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Taking another aspect of consideration'. Additionally, there are some issues with referencing, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between political influence and the curfew policy is not explicitly stated, making the flow of logic feel slightly disjointed at times.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their opinion clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'surveillance', 'influential', and 'implementing'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'influence their negativity on other people reputation' and 'go along with themselves'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the argument. Expanding the range of natural collocations would improve the score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('many famous people... are often organise'), article usage, and sentence fragments ('The best example can be seen in political'). There are also awkward phrasing issues, such as 'would might go against'. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they occur frequently enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band score.
