Student answer (Band 6.0)

In today's world, nightouts are not safe for the children due to the rise of crime. A few parts of the America not allowed the children to come out alone at night due to the particular reasons. I completely agree with this notion and stated my reasons along with examples in the upcoming paragraph.

To begin with, there are variety of reasons that a curfew is imposed in different parts of US to not allow the children to go for a night out. The first and the foremost is rate of crime has risen day by day because of robbery and kidnapping at the streets create a fear of misshappening among the children. To exemplify, if teenagers go to the market at night to buy something, they have fear to get robbed by someone. Secondly, missing reports of the children are went up nowadays because people are getting jealous from each other and find the way of revenge as kidnapping .

Moving further, rise of drugs in the market is also another cause of not getting permission to walk out at night alone because of the wrong mentorship. For example, if children are getting influenced by another classmates who take drugs and have contact with other drug dealers, it will directly impact the whole group. In addition to this, illegal things in some areas of the America also influence the teenagers towards them and make them corrupt, because at this age, they like to make huge money with less effort. Therffore, it should manadatory for the parents to com give company to their childrens at night.

In the conclusion, it is a best solution to imposed a curfew in high risk parts of the US where crime rate has risen, because it will help the parents to make their children feel safe and secure under the supervision. Lastly, I would like to say government should also take suitable measures to reduce the crime related to children’s murder, robbery and missing reports.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in favor of curfews. The ideas are relevant, focusing on crime rates and negative peer influence. However, the development is somewhat limited. While the points about robbery and drug influence are clear, they lack depth and specific, real-world evidence beyond general statements. The argument is consistent throughout, but the conclusion introduces new ideas (murder, robbery) that were not fully explored in the body paragraphs. To reach a higher band, the student should provide more detailed examples or logical extensions of their arguments rather than listing multiple points briefly.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Secondly', and 'In the conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Moving further' and 'In the conclusion, it is a best solution'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'illegal things in some areas of the America also influence the teenagers towards them'. While the overall progression is logical, the flow between sentences could be smoother to achieve a higher band.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their opinion clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'notion', 'mandatory', and 'supervision'. However, there are several instances of word choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'nightouts', 'misshappening', 'missing reports... are went up', and 'make them corrupt'. These errors do not impede communication, but they highlight a need for more precise lexical control and better understanding of word forms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('A few parts of the America not allowed', 'rate of crime has risen'), incorrect verb tenses ('are went up'), and missing articles or prepositions. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some errors with pluralization ('childrens'). While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The student should focus on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common grammatical slips.
