Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the curfew issue. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. The arguments regarding crime and psychological effects are introduced but remain underdeveloped, lacking specific examples or depth. The position is stated in the introduction, but the conclusion is extremely brief and fails to provide a clear summary or a final personal stance. To improve, you must expand on your points with more detailed explanations and ensure the essay meets the minimum length requirement to allow for full task development.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'To commence with' and 'On the contrary' to signal transitions. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some linking phrases are used incorrectly, such as 'it does not come with its sinister side' to introduce a paragraph about disadvantages. The conclusion is abrupt and lacks a cohesive link to the preceding arguments. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence will help improve the overall logical progression.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several instances of awkward phrasing and word choice errors. For example, 'wrongdoing works' is not a standard collocation, and 'phycological' is misspelled. You attempt to use some descriptive language like 'vulnerable' and 'sinister side', which is positive. However, the range is limited, and some expressions are repetitive or imprecise. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and ensure that your vocabulary is used in the correct context to convey your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'government restrict'), article usage (e.g., 'in the night time'), and prepositional errors. Some sentences are structurally awkward, such as 'people who convince with this thinking'. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, specifically checking for pluralization, verb forms, and correct sentence construction.
