Student answer (Band 5.5)

Safety is a basic right of every human being. Therefore, In few region of United state of America, a curfew is implemented, so youngsters are prohibited from going out at specific times during night unless they are with any adult. My opinion about this situation will be articulated in upcoming paragraphs.

To start with, there are so many reasons for this restriction. Firstly, safety is really very important as they are the future generation of the country. Secondly, they are unaware of the serious circumstances so if they go out it can be dangerous for them as any bad things can happen. Thirdly, the army forces are usually active during this time so any bad action can lead to serious results because it is always difficult for arm forces to recognise their native people during night times. For example, a survey done by abp news said that 60% teenagers are missing during curfew night in Iran. As a result, in my opinion, these are main causes to protect them from this situation.

However, there can be some disadvantages of this consequences. To explain it, children can feel discomfort, fear, anxiety, and depression due to this restriction. Moreover, if this situation goes for long period of time youngsters can try to go out and explore the area which can cause them harm. Thus, this situation can make any sort of worst affect on their health.

In conclusion, although there are various types of negative and positive effects of this on youngsters, In my opinion, teenagers should not allowed to be out of doors after a particular time at night unless they are accompanied by an adult.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding 'army forces' is confusing and lacks logical relevance to the context of US teenage curfews. The example provided about Iran is also irrelevant to the topic of the US. While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments are under-developed and rely on generalizations or illogical premises. To improve, you should focus on providing more realistic and relevant examples that directly support your stance on the specific social issue presented in the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To start with', 'Firstly', 'Secondly', and 'However' to signal transitions. However, the progression of ideas within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph where the jump from safety to military intervention is abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is unclear, such as the use of 'this consequences' and 'this situation', which makes the flow feel slightly mechanical. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is often repetitive and lacks precision. Phrases like 'any bad things can happen' and 'any sort of worst affect' are imprecise and informal. There are also issues with word choice, such as 'army forces' instead of 'law enforcement' or 'police', and 'native people' which is not the correct term in this context. You attempt to use some academic vocabulary, but the lack of control over collocations and word forms limits your score. Focusing on learning topic-specific vocabulary and more natural collocations will help you achieve a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'In few region of United state', 'teenagers should not allowed', and 'if this situation goes for long period of time'. There are also issues with article usage, pluralization, and verb forms. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. You should focus on subject-verb agreement, proper use of articles, and ensuring that passive voice constructions are formed correctly.
