Student answer (Band 6.5)
In some parts of United States, teenagers are prohibited to from staying outside after a certain time at night unlesss they are under adult supervision. Although some individuals consider this practice as excessive, however, I believe that imposing curfew is somehow beneficial because it protects that youngsters from potential threat and also it will impose a responsible behaviour.
To begin with, the utmost advantage of teenage curfew is that it can improve safety. This is because of the fact that, younger people who are outside are more vulnerable to crimes or even getting involved in drug activities which may put individuals in danger, purticularly when there is no supervision. Morever, by requiring teenagers to be home at a specific time will ensure the parents that the kids are safe. For instance, a teen who is home by 10p.m. is certainly less influenced by any hedious activities.
Furthermore, curfews also instill a sense of discipline and develop a healthy well being. As adolescents require suffiecient sleep to perfowm well at school and maintain both and mental and physical health. This is because, it will enable to focus more on education and personal development rather than spending excessive amount on socialisin late into the night, this will ultimately aid parents about the child's safety.
However, I believe that curfews shouldn't be excessively strict. Teenagers should gradually be given independence with age. Because there might be a legitimate occasion, such as school events or family gatherings where they are required to stay out. In such cases, an exception should be made when the parents are aware of the whereabouts.
In conclusion, I strongly support that reasonable teenage limitation is important to enhance safety, discipline and give peace of mind to parents. Nevertheless, rules should be flexible enough with the accountability of their age, maturity and other circumstances.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas regarding safety, discipline, and the need for flexibility are relevant and logically extended. However, some arguments are slightly repetitive, such as the mention of parental peace of mind appearing in both the body and the conclusion. To reach a higher band, the student could provide more specific examples or deeper analysis of the societal impact of curfews rather than focusing primarily on parental convenience. Overall, the response is well-focused and fulfills the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are used effectively to guide the reader. However, there are some minor mechanical issues with cohesion, such as the slightly awkward phrasing in 'this will ultimately aid parents about the child's safety'. Additionally, the use of 'Although' and 'however' in the same sentence in the introduction is redundant. Despite these minor flaws, the overall flow of the essay is clear and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'prohibited', 'vulnerable', 'instill', and 'accountability'. There are some spelling errors, such as 'purticularly', 'hedious' (likely meant 'heinous'), 'suffiecient', and 'perfowm'. Additionally, there are some word choice inaccuracies, such as 'aid parents about' and 'spending excessive amount on socialisin'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on accurate spelling and more precise collocations to convey their ideas with greater sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'prohibited to from staying', 'protects that youngsters', and 'it will enable to focus'. The sentence 'This is because, it will enable to focus...' is also structurally weak. While the student attempts complex sentences, the control over them is inconsistent. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are instances where commas are used incorrectly or omitted, affecting the flow. The errors are frequent enough to prevent a higher score, though they rarely cause significant confusion for the reader.
