Student answer (Band 6.5)
In todays era, a curfew rule is imposed by the authorities in several areas of the United States which stated that young people are not allowed to be out of their homes after a particular time at night without their parents. In my opinion, although this policy helps to stop the crime, but it will also affecting young individual's independence. This essay will discuss both pros and cons of this matter in the upcoming paragraphs.
On the one hand, firstly, it helps to promote a healthy routine among teens as they will return to home early that can further helps them to get enough sleep and be ready for next day school. Secondly, it reduces crime rates because, when youngsters will stay at home during late-night then it may discourage them from engaging in violence or other antisocial behaviour.
Furthermore, it also gives parents a peace of mind. This is because, then parents know where there children are and when they are expected to return home. As a result, it helps parents to get relief from over-stress and they can spend some quality time together with their loved ones while enjoying dinner.
On the other hand, this strict law also affecting teenagers life as they may feel their independence is being unnecessary limited. As a result, they sometimes become over stubborn and refuse to listen their parents. For instance, nowadays the number of mental health patients are increasing at alarming rate as they feel that they are unable to explain their feeling to their guardians. Thus, a single strict rule itself can not change the future of a country.
To conclude, I agree with curfews to some extend as they can protect teenagers from potential dangers at night, but they should not be extremely strict.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons for both sides of the argument, such as safety and routine versus independence and mental health. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the link between curfews and mental health is mentioned but not fully explored or supported with a clear logical chain. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more specific reasoning or illustrative examples. The conclusion clearly restates your position, which is consistent with the introduction.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Furthermore', and 'As a result' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'where there children are' (should be 'their') and 'this strict law also affecting' (missing auxiliary verb). Paragraphing is used appropriately, and there is a clear progression of ideas throughout the text, which helps the reader follow your argument easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'antisocial behaviour', 'alarming rate', and 'potential dangers'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'get relief from over-stress' and 'become over stubborn'. Some phrasing is also slightly unnatural, such as 'In todays era'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Expanding your repertoire of collocations and idiomatic expressions would significantly improve your score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('this policy... will also affecting', 'it helps... that can further helps'), missing articles, and incorrect verb forms ('refuse to listen their parents' should be 'listen to'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic tense consistency and ensuring that complex structures are formed accurately, particularly with modal verbs and prepositions.
