Student answer (Band 5.5)

Curfew in some areas of U.S restricts teenagers not to be out of door without supervison of adult. This essay will discuss my opinion in this regard in a better way.

The word "curfew" is an emotion and feeling besides its literal meaning. It is mostly perceived as a sense of some sort of punishment or jail. Nevertheless it was established in extereme hours of need and always for the betterment of the community. As curfew is imposed in some areas of U.S, though its the relaxed one. It allows the normal movement of civilians throughout the day but special precautions should be taken at night. Therefore, rule is indroduced that no teenager will be allowed to leave the door of their houses without any adult. For example, it is common practice that younger generation step out of their homes just to have gossips with their friends or they went to buy some snacks, so that should be controlled. Either try to have all the work done in the morning or teenager should be accompained by his parent.

We know that younger generations are more enthusiastic but lack maturation to cope difficult situations. They are not experienced about such sitautions before, thats why they need guidance. Increasing danger and crimes outside the homes pose a serious threat to teen agegroups. For example they can easily be harmed, kidnapped or harrased. They donot know how to do self defence and to save them our army and protective sources needs more manpower and time resources which are difficult to manage in these extreme conditions.

Therefore, in my opinion safety of our younger peeps are much more important. Nevertheless, being enclosed in their homes with feeling of outside danger is quite depressing for them and they will be bored and frustated consequentially but by keeping them safe we are actually helpinby our forces to make better control of the situation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the writer's opinion on teenage curfews, presenting relevant ideas regarding safety, crime prevention, and the lack of maturity in adolescents. The position is clear throughout the essay. However, some ideas are under-developed or supported with somewhat simplistic examples, such as teenagers going out just to gossip or buy snacks. While the main arguments are clear and directly respond to the task instructions, the overall development of ideas aligns best with a Band 6.0 descriptor, where relevant points are presented but some sections lack deeper elaboration.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with paragraphs introduced for different thematic ideas, such as the definition and nature of curfews, followed by reasons relating to safety and societal benefits. However, paragraphing is somewhat irregular, with the introduction and opening thoughts merging closely. Cohesive devices are occasionally mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'For example', 'Therefore', 'Nevertheless'). Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as 'rule is indroduced' or 'such sitautions before, thats why they need guidance'. The progression is adequate overall, earning a solid Band 5.5 for cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'enthusiastic', 'frustated', and 'consequentially'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that detract from precision, including 'supervison', 'extereme', 'indroduced', 'accompained', 'sitautions', 'harrased', 'peeps', and 'helpinby'. While these vocabulary errors and typos do not severely impede overall communication, they place the lexical resource firmly within the Band 5.5 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms with varying degrees of success. There are frequent grammatical errors, incorrect prepositions, and punctuation issues throughout the text, such as 'restricts teenagers not to be out of door', 'though its the relaxed one', 'teenager should be accompained', and run-on structures like 'They are not experienced about such sitautions before, thats why they need guidance'. These errors can cause occasional difficulty for the reader and demonstrate limited control over complex structures, corresponding to a Band 5.0.
