Student answer (Band 6.0)
A curfew is imposed in some areas of united states; therefore, teenagers are not permitted to go outside at night without the company of an adult. In my opinion, it is beneficial for young people as it protects them from crime and help parents monitor their children's activities.
To begin with, imposing curfew plays a significant role in protecting youngsters from crime and bad habits. When teenagers are required to saty home especially at night, they may not contact with criminal people and may not involve in bad activities, such as smoking, thefting and drinking, that sometimes can harm others. A research has shown that many young people who spend most of their time outside with their friends are more likely to commit criminal activities. As a result, there should be a certain time limit and restrictions for young individual who prefer going outside at night.
Moving further, staying home at night make teenagers more displined, as parents can monitor their activities and guide them accordingly. For example, adults may instill good values in them by becoming their role models because youngers tend to imitate the behavior of those who are around them. Thus, rather than going outside, they can pursue their interests and become productive and displined member of the society.
In conclusion, curfew is essential in a few parts of US at night for teenagers since it may assist them to become good members of the society and protect them from indulging bad habits. So, I believe that it is necessary to make more valuable and diciplined person of the community.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task by clearly stating the writer's opinion that curfews are beneficial for teenagers. The position is maintained throughout the essay. Main ideas, such as protecting youngsters from crime and helping parents monitor activities, are introduced and supported with relevant explanations and examples, such as mentioning research and the influence of role models. While some of the supporting points could be further expanded for greater depth, the overall treatment of the topic is clear, relevant, and well-developed. The response fulfills the requirements for a Band 6.5 to 7.0 range, successfully covering the prompt with a clear and consistent stance.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay presents a clear overall logical organization and progression. Ideas are divided into logical paragraphs, each starting with a transitional phrase such as 'To begin with' and 'Moving further'. Cohesive devices are used to link sentences, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor instances of awkward referencing. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, guiding the reader through the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion without significant confusion. The progression of ideas aligns well with the descriptors for a Band 6.5 to 7.0, showing a coherent overall arrangement despite minor faults in mechanical cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'beneficial', 'significant role', and 'productive'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors, such as 'united states' (capitalisation), 'saty' instead of stay, 'thefting' instead of theft or shoplifting, and 'displined' instead of disciplined. These errors do not impede overall communication, but they restrict the lexical score. The range of vocabulary is sufficient for some precision, but accuracy issues prevent it from reaching a higher band. Overall, the lexical control sits comfortably within the Band 6 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses, such as 'When teenagers are required to stay home especially at night, they may not contact with criminal people...'. However, there are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings, including preposition misuse ('contact with' instead of 'contact'), spelling issues affecting word forms, and typos like 'diciplined'. While these errors occur with some frequency, the majority of sentences remain understandable and communication is rarely impeded. This performance aligns well with the Band 6 descriptors for grammatical range and accuracy.
