Student answer (Band 5.5)

In some region of the united states, teenagers are prohibited from going outside after certain time at night unless they are accompanied by an adults. My advocacy stand with this regulation, and which will be elaborated in essay citing relevant examples.

To begin with, teenagers are not go outside alone in night, the prime benefit is that, young people who stay outside late at night may be exposed to various risks so that if they are with their adult they can handle every situation maturely. This means, young generation have risk of accidents, crime or unsafe environments during midnight. However, the supervision from adult can be good measure for avoiding unwanted circumstances. For instance, as per the survey 80 to 90% bad influencers target young boy during a night time so it is better to go with the mature alder person. Moreover, the newspapers are daily filled with tragic events, involving teenagers during the midnight. This is to say that, we heard news related to crime suspects which involved teenagers after dinner time. It is good for young fella to have a mature person as a guild during this periods.

In addition, that curfews can encourage teenagers to develop responsible routine. They learn that staying out very late can interfere with sleep, education and family life. This means, teenager know that they are expected to be home by a particular time, they may be more likely to organize their social activities responsibly. Furthermore, at age of teenagers this period of time, when younger people have more tendency to join bad company and habits. To explain, late night partied and drag races are organized, so in order to prevent the innocent people from being part of this culture, they should not allowed to go outside on their own.

Finally, in my opinion, I firmly support the this regulation which not allow to teenagers after certain period of time. The main justification is they are not mature enough so if they go with the adult person they will handle any difficulty easily and dangerous news we heard from the cities which involved young people so mature adult guild them properly at that time.

To conclude, my arguments prove that this regulation help them to learn discipline about their life and they protected from the bad environment and culture, however, if they go out with adult they have low risk and safe from bad influencers so not be a part of that bad habits.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The candidate addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear, supportive position on the imposition of curfews for teenagers. The main ideas are extended and supported with relevant reasoning regarding safety, crime prevention, and the development of responsible routines. For instance, the writer notes that 'young people who stay outside late at night may be exposed to various risks' and highlights that curfews encourage adolescents to organize social activities responsibly. However, the development tends to be somewhat repetitive, particularly in the conclusion and body paragraphs where points about adults guiding teenagers and avoiding dangerous news are restated multiple times. Additionally, there are minor over-generalizations, such as claiming '80 to 90% bad influencers target young boy during a night time.' Overall, the response meets the requirements for a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance stated in the introduction and reinforced in the conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct main ideas. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. The writer relies heavily on basic transitional markers like 'To begin with', 'In addition', and 'To conclude', and some cohesive devices are used inaccurately or redundantly (e.g., 'and which will be elaborated in essay citing relevant examples'). Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, as seen in the phrase 'this period of time, when younger people have more tendency'. While the logical progression is generally understandable, the clumsy phrasing and repetitive linking patterns place this performance firmly at Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The lexical resource displays an adequate range for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their opinions on curfews effectively. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'prohibited', 'supervision', 'circumstances', and 'responsibility'. However, frequent word choice, collocation, and word form errors occur throughout the text, including 'region' instead of 'regions', 'an adults' instead of an adult, 'alder person' instead of older person, 'guild' instead of guide, and 'partied' instead of parties. These errors occasionally cause strain for the reader, though they do not completely impede communication. These characteristics align with the Band 5.0 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some attempt at subordination and relative clauses (e.g., 'young people who stay outside late at night may be exposed...'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in articles, prepositions, subject-verb agreement, and clause structure. Examples of frequent errors include 'My advocacy stand with this regulation', 'teenagers are not go outside alone', 'young generation have risk', and 'they should not allowed to go outside'. Complex structures are often faulty, and missing or incorrect auxiliary verbs disrupt the flow of sentences. Control of grammar is inconsistent, which is characteristic of a Band 5.0 performance.
