In today's era, safety becomes everyone's priority. Lock down is imposed in some areas of the US for teenagers, until an unless if they are with some adult. I strongly agree with this trend. This essay will discuss both views with my opinion.
There are numerous reasons to enforce a curfew. First and foremost is that a safety. Teenagers are vulnerable. They do not know the difference between right and wrong. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, expressing a clear personal opinion regarding youth curfews. The writer introduces relevant ideas, such as safety concerns and the impressionability of teenagers, supporting them with reasoning and an example of teenage girls running away. However, some ideas are slightly under-developed or repetitive, and the promise in the introduction to 'discuss both views with my opinion' is slightly contradicted by the structure, which leans heavily into supporting the curfew before briefly acknowledging opposing views. The response satisfies the requirements of a Band 6 level as it covers all parts of the task with relevant ideas, though the depth of development is somewhat limited.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, body points, and conclusion logically. Cohesive devices and transition markers such as 'First and foremost', 'Another one is that', and 'In conclusion' are utilized to guide the reader through the text, although some devices feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. Referencing is generally clear, though occasional awkward phrasing creates slight bumps in the logical flow. Overall, the organizational structure meets the criteria for Band 6, providing a clear progression of ideas despite some basic cohesive links.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'vulnerable', 'future outcomes', and 'resilient'. However, there are noticeable lexical errors, word choice inaccuracies, and awkward phrasing throughout the text, such as 'Lock down' instead of curfew, 'until an unless if', 'can be smoothly manipulate', and 'implimanting'. Spelling errors like 'adolscents' also occur. These errors do not impede overall communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 5.5, sitting comfortably within the Band 5 to Band 6 range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing relative clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, such as 'There are some people is not agree', 'go out at nights', and 'end up becoming a victim of a criminals'. Despite these recurring errors, the meaning remains mostly clear and does not severely impede the reader's understanding. This performance aligns well with the Band 5 descriptor, where a limited range of structures and frequent errors are present.
