Student answer (Band 5.5)

Selective areas of the US are under curfew where an adult is mandatory to be accompanied with teenagers otherwise they are not permitted to be out alone of their homes after some time a night. This essay will elaborate this point in detail and I will give my opinion in the end.

It is wellknown that the US is legalized in purchasing and having gun. Because of the curfew, the state police are trying to protect high risk age-group of people - teenagers to be the victim of such crime after sunset. As teenagers are easily pursuasive to be kidnapped, can get robbed because they are not strong enough to protect themselves and sometimes full of rage to involved in a fight which may get shot. Accopanying an adult can mitigate the risk by greater percentage number. As such adults can act according to the sitaution and responsible enough to take care of the teenager.

Moreover, particularly for the teenage girls, there have been increased crime for rape and sexual abuse in dark time. Accompanying an adult with a girl avoid conversation leading to inviting her for sexual favours in exchange of an expensive gift or money. For an example, the prime target for sex addict is an attractive teenage girl for a hookup. Sometimes a girl cannot judge the intension behind the interaction which make them fall in honey trap and get sexually abused even upto torcher to avoid legal actions.

In conclusion, looking at the history of the such areas and keeping the factor of protection in mind. I believe that it is strictly manadatory to impose curfew and must to have an adult with teenagers.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The student addresses the prompt by expressing an opinion on curfews for teenagers. The position is stated clearly, albeit somewhat awkwardly phrased in the introduction as 'I will give my opinion in the end.' The writer provides reasons and examples, such as gun laws in the US and protection against abduction or sexual assault. However, the ideas lack full development and suffer from sweeping generalisations and unconvincing examples, such as claiming that 'the prime target for sex addict is an attractive teenage girl for a hookup.' While all parts of the task are addressed, the depth of argumentation and support aligns best with a Band 6.0 descriptor, as the ideas are sometimes underdeveloped or unclear.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay has a recognisable structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, fulfilling basic organisational requirements. Paragraphing is used, though the body paragraphs are dense and contain multiple ideas packed together rather than cleanly separated points. Cohesive devices are attempted (e.g., 'Moreover', 'In conclusion'), but referencing and linkage can be mechanical or confusing, such as 'looking at the history of the such areas and keeping the factor of protection in mind. I believe...', which creates a sentence fragment and disrupts the logical flow. Overall progression is present, but cohesion is sometimes faulty. This performance fits the Band 5.5 to 6.0 range; a 5.5 is awarded due to the noticeable mechanical errors in cohesion and referencing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate to communicate the writer's basic points, showing attempts at less common items such as 'mitigate', 'pursuasive' (misused for 'persuadable'), and 'honey trap'. However, there are frequent word choice, collocation, and word formation errors throughout the text, such as 'legalized in purchasing' instead of 'legal to purchase', 'full of rage to involved' instead of 'involved', and 'upto torcher' instead of 'up to torture'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are noticeable and demonstrate limitations in lexical control, placing the response firmly at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent errors in verb forms, voice, and prepositions, such as 'an adult is mandatory to be accompanied with teenagers' (incorrect passive structure) and 'dark time' instead of 'nighttime'. Sentence structures are often strained or ungrammatical, for example, the fragment in the conclusion: 'looking at the history of the such areas and keeping the factor of protection in mind. I believe...' These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the text from reaching a Band 6.0, making Band 5.0 a more accurate reflection of grammatical control.
