Student answer (Band 6.0)

Young people are future of the nations and protecting their wellness should be a main priority. In recent years, Curfew has been imposed in some areas due to different reasons where teenagers are strictly not allowed to go outside at night without accompanied by an adult. I personally believe that this initiate would protect the society. This essay will discuss reasons behind this development.

To begin, there are several reasons why this initiate has been taken. The first and foremost reason is crime-rate. In few state, the crime rate is continuously rising which is biggest concern for government to protect innocent youth. Despite of regular patrolling and camera survilence, it has not been reduced. Therefore, the government have to ask kids and youngster to stay indoors at night.

Another reason is homelessness and increasing consumption of drugs. In Philadelphia, consumption of drugs has been sharply increased and most of the people are homeless. They often look out for help when they ran out of cash. Due to lack of money, they may intiate a robbery or a theft. To protect the youth, the government have decided to impose restrictions on kids.

Despite of rules and regulations, many people are stressed for the curfew. They say that imposing curfew is not a long term and sustainable solutions. The public authority have to find an another way to deal with this situations.

To sum up, this intiate is aiming to improve safety, awareness and protection. Imposing curfew is a short-term solution to deal with crime but it provides extra time to find appropriate solutions with care.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The student addresses all parts of the prompt by stating a clear position that the curfew protects society and providing reasons such as crime reduction and drug concerns. The position is maintained throughout the essay. However, the ideas lack full extension and some supporting details tend to generalise slightly, for instance when mentioning 'few state' or general homelessness. This places the performance firmly at Band 6.0, as it addresses all parts of the task with relevant ideas, though some are somewhat under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, moving logically from an introduction to body paragraphs discussing crime and drug consumption, counter-arguments, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin', 'Another reason', and 'To sum up', although some referencing and transitional links are occasionally faulty or mechanical, such as 'Despite of rules and regulations' and 'find an another way'. Paragraphing is sufficient and logical, aligning well with the descriptors for a Band 6.0 score.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'wellness', 'curfew', 'survilence', and 'sustainable solutions'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors ('survilence' for surveillance, 'intiate' for initiate) and occasional word-choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'initiate this initiate' and 'an another way'. Despite these flaws, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the message without impeding communication, representing a solid Band 6.0 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as subordinate clauses ('where teenagers are strictly not allowed'). However, there are frequent grammatical errors in article use, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions, including 'Young people are future of the nations', 'without accompanied by an adult', 'the government have to ask', and 'Despite of'. These errors occur throughout the text, though they rarely impede communication. This balanced mix of successful structures and persistent errors is characteristic of Band 6.0.
