Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is noticed that the government of the US has been implemented a curfew in some parts of the nation, due to this youngsters are unable to go out of their houses after a certain time at night without having an adult along with them. I completely support this rule of the higher authorities, as it would contribute to save the teenagers from crimes, and also provide a sense of saftey to their parents.

First and foremost, when teenagers have some ristrictions at their outing from their homes, the crime invloving teenagers can be controlled. This is because the teenage is a very fragile age, and most teenagers can be easily influenced by some offenders to do wrong activities, which are against the law. Addditionally, serious crimes are usually done at night time, so if the adolescents do not go out at night, they will stay safe from criminal activities. For example, After having curfue in some parts of the Us nation, the crime rate significantly decreased invloving young people. Therefore, this rule proves beneficial and also essential.

Furthermore, guardians of teenagers can also feel relieved after the introduction of this rule, as sometimes children do not listen to their parents. They like to do late night parties sometimes, and parents feel worried about them. Due to this regulation, children can not take a single step out without having a company of an adult. Hence, parents believe that now, they do not need to be worry about the safety of their offsprings as they can take care of it by themselves, only because of this law.

To conclude, I believe that curfew for teenagers after a particular time at night is a really appreciable law. This will not only assist to reduce the crime rate of country but it can also keep the teenagers safe, and contribute to decline the stress of parents related to the saftey of their children.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response clearly addresses the task by expressing a definite opinion in support of curfews for teenagers. The position is maintained throughout the essay. Main ideas—such as crime reduction and parental peace of mind—are presented and supported with reasons and examples, such as the mention of crime rates decreasing after the introduction of curfews. However, the development of ideas tends to be slightly repetitive, and the examples provided are generalized rather than deeply elaborated. This places the response comfortably at Band 6.5, as it addresses all parts of the task with relevant ideas, though some areas could be more fully extended.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The essay is generally coherent and shows a logical overall progression. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs focusing on separate arguments (crime reduction and parental relief), and a concise conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to connect ideas, such as "First and foremost," "Additionally," and "Furthermore." However, some cohesive referencing and transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly awkward, such as "when teenagers have some ristrictions at their outing from their homes." Overall, the logical organization is clear, earning a solid Band 6.5 for this criterion.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to communicate their opinion effectively. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as "fragile age," "influenced," and "appreciable law." However, there are also noticeable word-choice inaccuracies, spelling mistakes (e.g., "ristrictions," "invloving," "Addditionally," "curfue," "saftey," "offsprings"), and awkward phrasing like "do not take a single step out without having a company of an adult." These lexical slips and spelling errors occasionally draw attention, placing this response at Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures like conditional and causal clauses (e.g., "as it would contribute to save the teenagers..." and "if the adolescents do not go out at night, they will stay safe..."). However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including passive voice errors ("has been implemented" instead of "has implemented"), missing articles, and preposition errors ("at night time," "done at night"). Although these errors do not severely impede communication, they are persistent enough to prevent the score from reaching Band 6.5, making Band 6.0 a fair representation.
