Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is believed by a large number of people that there should be a time limit for teenagrs to go out of doors particularly at night. For that reason government of US has imposed some laws in specific areas to prohibit outdoor activities of teenagers without an adult member. I strongly argue that it is the best decision taken by the authorities. This essay discusses the reasons behind this restriction and I would provide significant examples to show its positive aspects.
To begin with, due to the increased advancement in technology, young individuals below a specific age are easily involved in several crimes. This is because of their impressionable minds. Additionally, at the night, harassment or criminial activities is usually experienced by a considerable number of people. In several cases, violation of rules and drug transfusion were reported in different areas. For instance, recent cohort analysis published by International bureau of child protection sates that, 80% of the security issues reported by teens were as result of their independent walk at night.
To tackle with that, Government of United States of America has strictly enforced a regulation in various areas where criminal offences were seen after the sunset. As soon as this law was introduced, many people appreciated this step but numerous conflicts were also observed simultaneously. I believe having a mature or an elder family member or a relative specially at the night is relatively safer than going alone out of doors. Furthermore, if it is accompanied by an adult it provides a sense of security and warns criminals to stay away from young people. For example, a great proportion of crimes han been declined due to more vigilant supervision of elders.
To summerzie, in various states of America stricter laws are formulated and implemented by the government to stop teenagers not to go alone after a specified time at night. In my opinion, this is a remarkable step but local authorities should also create some practical solutions to reduce teenage harassment and crimes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by discussing the topic of curfews for teenagers, stating a clear position throughout, and providing relevant supporting examples. In the introduction, the writer clearly states, 'I strongly argue that it is the best decision taken by the authorities.' The body paragraphs explore the reasons behind this restriction, mentioning safety concerns, peer influence, and adult supervision. The ideas are extended and supported with reference to data and logical reasoning. While some arguments could be explored in even greater depth, the response fully satisfies the requirements of Band 7 by presenting a clear position and supporting it with coherent arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct focus, beginning with a clear introduction, followed by body paragraphs addressing safety issues and the role of adult supervision, and ending with a concise summary. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well, such as 'To begin with,' 'Additionally,' and 'Furthermore.' However, there are minor cohesion and referencing flaws, such as 'To tackle with that,' which sounds slightly unnatural, and occasional mechanical transitions. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, maintaining an overall coherent arrangement that guides the reader smoothly from the introduction to the final conclusion, placing the essay comfortably within the Band 6.5 to 7 range.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate to sufficient range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'impressionable minds', 'cohort analysis', and 'vigilant supervision'. However, there are noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'teenagrs' (spelling error), 'drug transfusion' (inappropriate collocation; likely meant drug trafficking or substance abuse), and 'han been declined' (typographical and grammatical slip). Despite these errors, the lexical range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning without impeding communication, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at varied structures such as relative clauses and conditional-like phrasing ('if it is accompanied by an adult it provides...'). However, there are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings present, including 'at the night' instead of 'at night', 'criminial activities' (spelling), 'To tackle with that' (unnecessary preposition), and 'stop teenagers not to go' (awkward negative infinitive structure). Punctuation and articles are occasionally mishandled. Nevertheless, these errors rarely impede overall communication, supporting a solid Band 6 score.
