Student answer (Band 6.0)
In some parts of the United States, kids are not allowed to go outside without any adult after a specific time at night due to a curfew. I completely agree with this statement because it provides security to teenagers, and help them prevent from getting involved in any dangerous situations. In this essay, I will support my opinion with concrete examples.
Children can remain safe inside the house. This is because if the kids stay at home during the night, parents feel relaxed and can make sure their children are safe. For example, In America, a few number of kids get kidnapped due this strict rules and regulations. As a result, curfew can provide greater peace of mind for both parents and children. Moreover, it can encourage teenagers to spend more time with their families instead of staying outside during unsafe hours.
Furthermore, this law can provide protection to teenagers. This is mainly because some kids may get involved in any difficult situations, especially at night. For instance, they may encounter strangers or become victims of crime while being alone outside. Therefore, this law can keep children safe and reduce the risk of dangerous situations. It can also discourage teenagers from participating in risky activities with friends during late hours.
In conclusion, I firmly belive that kids are prohibited to be out of the doors, particularly at night because it not only keeps kids secure at home but also reduces parents stress, and offers protection to teenagers. Consequently, I completely agree with this given statement.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by taking a clear and consistent position in favour of teen curfews. The ideas are relevant and supported with explanations regarding safety, crime prevention, and family time. However, the development tends to be somewhat repetitive, particularly in the second and third body paragraphs, where similar points about avoiding dangerous situations and strangers are restated without adding significant new depth. The example provided in the second paragraph ('a few number of kids get kidnapped due this strict rules and regulations') is slightly unclear and contradictory in its phrasing regarding the cause and effect of the curfew. Nevertheless, the main task requirements are met, and the writer's position is clearly communicated throughout the essay. This performance fits comfortably into Band 6.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a clear overall logical organization, featuring a distinct introduction, two body paragraphs supporting the main argument, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to connect ideas, such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and paragraph internal cohesion are occasionally faulty or repetitive, as seen with the recurring phrase 'This is because' and 'This is mainly because'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points, but the progression within paragraphs sometimes circles back to the same ideas rather than advancing the argument progressively. Overall, the essay is coherent and easy to follow, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors for cohesion and logical arrangement.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully incorporating terms such as 'curfew', 'prohibited', 'participation', and 'security'. There are, however, noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'help them prevent from getting involved' (should be 'help prevent them from getting'), 'a few number of kids' (should be 'a small number of kids'), and the spelling error 'belive' instead of 'believe'. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they demonstrate a limitation in precision and collocation that prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. The vocabulary is generally functional and sufficient to convey the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilizing structures such as 'In some parts of the United States, kids are not allowed to go outside...' and 'This is because if the kids stay at home during the night, parents feel relaxed...'. There are several grammatical errors present throughout the text, including preposition and article issues ('without any adult' instead of 'without an adult', 'due this strict rules' instead of 'due to these strict rules', 'reduces parents stress' instead of 'reduces parents' stress'). Despite these errors, the sentence structures are mostly intelligible and the errors rarely impede communication, allowing the reader to follow the arguments easily. This profile aligns directly with the Band 6 criteria.
