Student answer (Band 5.0)

Curfew has only occured during some dangerous situation arises into the nation. In some location of the US, it is imposed, during this time teenagers are not allowed to be out of home after a particular time at night. From my opinion, it is right thing to prohibit teenagers to be outside their home during curfew time, especially after sunset. This essay will explore the valid reasons with appropriate example in an ensuing paragraphs.

The primary reason for this is that people may not be safe during lockdown time. This is mainly because they may exposed to certain kind of risk during that time. If individual try to break certain rules, there may be chances to get threaten by someone during that pepriod of time. For instance, people are not allowed to visit outside their home during war like situations. Consequently, they may feel safe by staying at home during a such type of toughful situations.

Another significant reason is that people may revealed some confidential details to other people. This is mainly due to people could not be able to face some difficult situations. So, it might be chnaces to loose thei patience. As a result, they may be revealed the some crucial information to the others, and in the country or city some misinformation would be spreaded. For example, if people would go outside their home, there would be the chances that they get imposed by someone and they tend to instinct them to reveal some crucial information. These would lead to create some negative impact on the nation.

In conclusion, although it is very tough to be enclosed at home, it is more important for individual to follow some valuable rules and regulations during curfew period. Not only the safety purpose, but also for the nation by keeping all the information confidential. Therefore, I believe that to prohibit teenagers to be outside their home during curfew time, especially at night unless they are accompanied by an inspection.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

The response addresses the task only partially, as the student struggles to maintain a clear focus on the specific prompt regarding teenage curfews. While a position is stated in the introduction, the arguments quickly shift into general discussions about wartime lockdowns and leaking confidential military secrets rather than focusing on adolescent behavior, public safety, or parental control. Ideas remain limited and under-developed, relying on repetitive points about security without providing relevant real-world examples that fit the topic. Note that 16 words copied directly from the task prompt were excluded from the official word count.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays some organization with a discernible introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Paragraphing is attempted, yet the internal flow of logic is disrupted by abrupt shifts in topic, such as moving from adolescent curfews to espionage and classified information in the third paragraph. Cohesive devices are sometimes inaccurate or repetitive, with phrases like 'The primary reason for this is that' and 'Another significant reason is that' used mechanically. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, leaving the reader to guess the intended connection between sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used represents a limited range that is only minimally adequate for the task. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices throughout the text, such as 'occured during some dangerous situation arises' instead of 'occur when a dangerous situation arises', and 'pepriod' instead of 'period'. The student attempts less common lexical items like 'confidential details' and 'regulations', but poor word form and collocation, such as 'get threaten' or 'spreaded', cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the response from achieving a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The writer employs a limited range of sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that can cause difficulty for the reader, including subject-verb agreement issues like 'people may revealed' and 'there would be the chances'. Preposition usage within grammatical patterns is often weak, as seen in 'From my opinion' instead of 'In my opinion', alongside incorrect verb forms such as 'would go outside' and missing articles that hinder overall grammatical accuracy.
