Student answer (Band 6.0)
In some places in the United States of America, a 'curfew' is imposed, in which youngsters are not permitted to be outside after a particular time at night, except they are accompanied by an adult. I am of the opinion that this is a positive development, because it is safer and reduces the rate abuse.
Firstly, report has shown that violent crimes are mostly reported at night in the United States. Teenagers are mostly taken advantage of at night. Young people of both genders lack the experience to protect themselves, and also prone to assualt and the risk of danger at night. For example, a young girl or boy coming back at an odd hour of the night without any visible adult present, could be sexually assaulted without any help. For this reason, there should be night restrictions imposed on teenagers, on exception that they are with an adult.
Furthermore, adults are capable of protecting youngsters to a large extent. Experienced adults are familiar with the land layout. They easily understand the safest route, places to go and restricted territories. Similarly, if anything goes wrong they know how to handle the situation better. For instance, when a father take his teen daughter to a prom party in Chicago, he drives her to the location through a busy and safe route. He well concerned with their safety incase any thing goes wrong. This can only be achieved through a mandatory curfew.
In conclusion, I believe that a curfew imposed in some areas of the US, have more merits. It can protect young people and keep them safe from harm.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your position is clear from the introduction: you support curfews because they improve teenagers’ safety, and the conclusion restates this view. Both body paragraphs give relevant reasons, including exposure to assault and the protection an accompanying adult can provide. The examples help make the argument concrete, particularly the scenario of a parent taking a teenager to a prom. However, the response focuses almost entirely on safety; the second paragraph largely repeats this point rather than developing a distinct reason or considering a limitation of curfews. Some claims, such as that violent crimes are mostly reported at night, are asserted without support. To strengthen the response, explain the evidence or reasoning behind such claims and develop a broader implication or counterargument.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your opinion, two paragraphs present supporting reasons, and a conclusion summarises your position. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “Furthermore,” and “For this reason” make the progression easy to follow. The examples are placed alongside the points they illustrate, which supports the reader’s understanding. To make the organisation more flexible and cohesive, ensure each paragraph advances a distinct aspect of the argument: the second body paragraph currently overlaps substantially with the first because both focus on protection and safety. Some links between sentences could also be made more explicit, so that the example about the prom clearly demonstrates how adult accompaniment supports your argument rather than simply adding another scenario.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “violent crimes,” “sexually assaulted,” “restricted territories,” and “mandatory curfew.” These choices communicate the main ideas, but the range is uneven and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision. For example, “reduces the rate abuse” is unclear, while “familiar with the land layout” and “visible adult present” are unnatural in this context. There are also spelling errors such as “assualt” and “incase.” Aim to use more natural combinations and check spelling carefully; for instance, describe a reduction in “the rate of abuse” and refer to “the local area” or “the layout of the area.” This would make your argument clearer and more fluent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “when,” and “if,” and the overall meaning is generally understandable. However, errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, and sentence construction recur. Examples include “report has shown” (missing an article), “also prone to assault” (missing a subject and verb), “when a father take” (subject–verb agreement), and “a curfew … have” (agreement). The sentence beginning “For example, a young girl or boy…” also has an awkward conditional structure. Work on checking each sentence for a clear subject and correctly matched verb, and practise forming conditional sentences accurately. Greater control of these patterns would allow your complex ideas to come across more smoothly.
