Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.5

You identify the topic and begin to discuss safety, which is relevant, but your opinion is not completed: “In my opinion, it is related to safety and” ends mid-sentence. The response also stops before explaining whether you support or oppose curfews, and the points about crime and late-night outings are not developed with clear reasoning or relevant examples. The required minimum is not met: the response contains 107 words, 143 short of 250; eight words copied from the prompt were excluded from the count. This leaves the task only minimally addressed. To improve, state your position directly, explain two reasons, and support each with a specific example before writing a conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0

There is a basic attempt to organise the response using “On the one hand” and “On the other hand,” and these phrases signal a contrast between safety concerns and night-time activities. However, the ideas do not progress into complete paragraphs: the opening ends with “and,” and the final point ends with “Many people.” As a result, the reader cannot follow a complete line of argument or see how the points connect to your opinion. The two body sections also lack explanation and concluding links. Build a clear sequence—introduction with your view, one developed reason per paragraph, then a conclusion—and use linking phrases only where they accurately show the relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “curfew,” “teenagers,” “murders,” “crimes,” and “accompanied by an adult,” so the subject is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited, and several choices are unnatural or imprecise, such as “out of houses,” “foreign people,” and “outsider citizens.” “Gangster” is also an unsuitable general label in this context. These expressions make parts of the argument difficult to interpret precisely. Aim for more accurate collocations and neutral wording, such as “out in public,” “people from other countries,” or “local residents.” Expanding your vocabulary for safety, crime, and personal freedom would help you express the ideas more clearly and appropriately.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The response attempts both simple statements and a complex clause, for example, “a curfew is imposed, in which teenagers are not allowed…,” and the basic meaning is often recoverable. However, control is inconsistent. In “some areas of the USA is not safe,” the plural subject requires “are”; “if anyone see” needs “sees”; and “because rising cases” lacks a grammatical link such as “because of rising cases.” Several fragments, including “As many youngsters enjoy weekends at the clubs or at the beaches,” are not complete sentences in this context, while the opening and final sentences are unfinished. Practise complete sentence structures, subject–verb agreement, and clauses introduced by “because” or “as.”
