Student answer (Band 5.5)

In different locations of America, there is a policy for not leaving homes at ceratin point of time at night by the teenagers, but guardian will need for going out. In my opinion, curfew is essential nowdays because of crimes and drug addict which leads to unsafe environment.

There are many reason that I have same thoughts about this situation, the first and formost is the increase in criminal activities. Well, teenagers who are not home at midnight as well, they are influence with their peers or get pressure from them who were already did some time of activity, for example friends that were doing snatching or looting old people for extra money, which will affect them by going out with them. Besides, they will not only indulging in thes activity but also influencing other adolsence that leads to unsafe future.

The other reason is teens will be drug addict, nowadays lot of youngster who were doing parties or going out at late nights with their same ones will doing vaping or smoke which is common in america righgt now. Before realising these things are bad for their health they already addict to these materials. For Instance, America found out most of teen who are studying in high school they are doing more smoking or vaping as compared to past 10 years of teen life.

In conclusion, I think curfew is the best policy by the US because they will not indulge in these of activities , but their future will secure for betterment for the society and country. Also, their parents will happy their children are not taking bad setps which affect in future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction: you support curfews because of crime and drug use, and the conclusion restates this view. You address the question and give two relevant reasons, with examples involving theft and vaping. This meets the core requirements, and the crime paragraph includes some explanation of how peer influence could affect teenagers. However, the support is uneven: the claim about high-school students smoking more than ten years ago is vague and unsupported, while the effects of curfews themselves are not explored in detail. To strengthen the response, explain how restricting late-night outings would reduce these risks, and acknowledge a possible concern, such as limits on teenagers’ independence, before explaining why safety outweighs it.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “the first” and “The other reason” help readers follow the main points, and the overall progression from crime to substance use is logical. However, some links are mechanical, and the long sentence beginning “Well, teenagers who are not home at midnight” makes the relationship between peer pressure, criminal activity, and its consequences difficult to follow. References such as “these activity” and “these things” are also not always clear. Use shorter sentences to separate each step in your reasoning, and make pronouns refer unmistakably to a specific idea or group.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “criminal activities,” “peer pressure,” “vaping,” and “unsafe environment,” so the main ideas are generally understandable. There are also attempts at more specific language, such as “snatching or looting.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, spelling, and collocation errors make parts of the response awkward or unclear: “drug addict,” “same ones,” and “bad setps” are examples. Some expressions are repeated rather than varied, particularly references to teenagers and activities. Build a more accurate set of topic phrases and check spelling and word forms; for example, distinguish between people who are addicted and the condition of addiction, and use natural collocations for crime and substance use.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional idea in “Before realising these things are bad for their health…” and a relative clause describing friends. This shows some ambition beyond basic sentence patterns. However, many sentences contain errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, or sentence construction, and these sometimes make the meaning hard to follow. For instance, “they are influence with their peers” and “they will doing vaping” do not form accurate verb patterns; “There are many reason” also has a number-agreement error. Practise building clear subject–verb sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Pay particular attention to past and present forms, plural agreement, and complete, well-punctuated sentences.
