Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
You express a view that curfews can help reduce crime, and you give a relevant example involving Las Vegas. However, the response only minimally addresses the question: it focuses on crime prevention rather than explaining your opinion about restricting teenagers’ freedom, safety, or the role of parents. The example is asserted rather than supported, and the reasons—such as teenagers thinking twice before committing crimes—are not developed. The brief final sentence repeats the main claim instead of adding a conclusion or qualification. The response is also 85 words below the required minimum, which leaves too little space to explain and support your position. Develop both the benefits and any concerns, then illustrate them with specific reasoning or experience.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
There is a basic attempt to organise the response: an opening paragraph introduces the topic, a second paragraph gives reasons and an example, and a final sentence restates the claim. Linking expressions such as “Moreover,” “For instance,” and “On top of that” show an effort to connect ideas. However, progression is limited: the opening promises discussion of “the measurement and the motives,” which does not clearly match the task, and the final sentence is too brief to function as a developed conclusion. Some links are awkward or do not clarify the relationship between ideas. Build a clearer sequence—state your opinion, explain each reason, support it, and conclude—and use paragraphing to separate distinct points.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt some topic-related vocabulary, including “curfew,” “mitigate,” “committing,” and “eradicate,” and the general meaning is usually recoverable. There is some range beyond basic everyday words, but several choices and spelling errors make the expression noticeably inaccurate. Examples include “measurement” where “measures” is intended, “strickt,” “Scruitinising,” and “for sake of a younger one.” The phrase “crime rate has been increased” is also an unnatural collocation. Aim for accurate, natural combinations rather than inserting formal words that do not fit the meaning. Proofread spelling and use precise phrases such as “reduce crime rates” and “protect teenagers.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response includes attempts at complex sentences, for example, “Although it is not always helpful to stop all the crime,” and a conditional idea beginning “if they want to go out.” However, the range is limited and these structures are often faulty. Errors include subject–verb agreement in “There is multiple reasons,” verb form in “crime rate has been increased,” and missing or incorrect sentence structure in “there is some proactive step can be taken.” The sentence beginning “For instance, Las vegas…” also lacks a clear grammatical connection between the place and the claim. These errors sometimes make relationships difficult to follow. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and check agreement, articles, and complete sentence boundaries.
