Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is said that all adolescence must have accompanied by thier parents or relatives when they get outside late at night because of the ordinance that US government implemented.

To begin with, some location now in the US are emplementing a bill that already sign by the government about only adult people can go out outside in the middle of the night but young people can go also if they have adults with them. For example, on my neighborhood a lot of young children playing at night during weekends. They want to play outside for a quick games from thier friends and schoolmates so they need an adult person to watch them to secure that they are all safe doing thier activities.

In addition some adult are oppose about the curfew because not all parents or relatives are early going home after the work, so when the kids arrive after school some of thier parents are not come home yet in that particular time in evening. For instance, if the young people is alone in thier house and no food is available, so they need to go outside alone to buy something to eat even when thier parents are not around to accompanied them. so that is the problem of some people about the curfew they imposed.

In conclusion, not only in the US are implementing the curfew i think all over the world are using this ordinace for the safety of our young children because we are living in the world a lot of crime going on, So for me this is the best way to protect us and the younger generation from any danger.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear in the conclusion: you support curfews as a way to protect young people from crime. You also include relevant points about adult supervision and the difficulty faced by children whose parents are still at work. However, the response only partly develops the question of whether teenagers should be restricted from going out at night. The example about children playing on weekends is not clearly connected to the specific risks or benefits of a curfew, and the example of going out to buy food raises a counterargument that you do not fully address. Explain why you believe the safety benefits outweigh such practical difficulties, and support this with a more specific example or reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The paragraphs also broadly group related ideas: supervision is discussed first, followed by difficulties for working parents. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes unclear, and linking phrases such as “To begin with” and “In addition” do not always make the relationship between ideas precise. The first body paragraph shifts from a rule about teenagers to children playing outside, while the second moves from parents’ work schedules to buying food without clearly connecting each step. Use topic sentences that state each paragraph’s main point, then explain and illustrate it in a logical sequence. Clearer sentence boundaries and references would also help readers follow the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some task-related vocabulary, including “curfew,” “ordinance,” “safety,” and “crime,” so the main topic is generally understandable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “all adolescence” is not a natural way to refer to young people, and “a quick games from their friends” does not clearly express the intended activity. There are also repeated spelling errors, including “thier,” “emplementing,” and “ordinace.” Build a more precise set of expressions for discussing restrictions, supervision and public safety, and check spelling carefully. The suggestions below offer practical alternatives drawn from your response.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including clauses with “because,” “when” and “if,” but complex sentences are often faulty and errors occur frequently. For example, “all adolescence must have accompanied” has an incorrect verb construction, while “some of their parents are not come home yet” uses an incorrect verb form. Agreement is also inconsistent in “the young people is alone,” and several sentences run together or begin with a lowercase “so,” making punctuation and sentence boundaries difficult to follow. Practise forming accurate subject–verb patterns and using modal verbs with the base form, then check each sentence for a complete main clause. Shorter, controlled sentences will help you communicate your ideas more reliably before you add complexity.
