Student answer (Band 6.0)
In some parts of United States, because of curfew teenagers are prohibted to be out after a certain hours at night unless they are with their parents of adults. I understand the pros and cons of this however, in my opnion government took serious steps in order to save teenagers because the new generation is not taking anything on a serious note.
In curfew, teenagers should be at home because staying out for late can be dangerous and they may become victim of any crime. In order to explain, teenagers are more curious about what is happening in the world but it could be threatning to their life. They should only leave their house if they are accompained with an adult or with parents, so that they can take care of them and have some peace of mind. For example, one white person killed a black guy in 2021, then his community was very angry with white community and they started breaking everything in the town and they set everything on fire in the city, so at that time nobody was allowed to be out.
On the other hand, I believe that strict curfews can unnecessarily restrict teenagers' freedom and independence. responsible young ones should be given opportunities to make their decision and tak esome steps. It also put detrimental impact on their health because they are spending more time on mobile phones and computers and do not socialise ayymore. This is an obstacle in their work life as well, teenagers, who are working night shifts, they are unable to go to work.
In conclusion, although curfews may help young ones to stay safe , I disagree with strict restrictions government should take more steps for their freedom. Otherwise, they always become dependant on their parents and are unable to take their own decisions.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address the question and present a position: you recognise safety benefits but ultimately disagree with strict curfews. The safety argument is relevant, and you try to support it with an example of unrest in a town. However, that example is difficult to connect clearly to teenagers being protected by a curfew, so explain the link or choose a more direct example. Your points about independence, socialising and teenagers who work night shifts add useful balance, but they are not developed equally; for instance, explain how a curfew affects social development or why work schedules should be accommodated. A clearer distinction between limited, safety-focused curfews and strict restrictions would make your opinion and reasoning more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two contrasting body paragraphs and a conclusion. The progression from safety benefits to restrictions on freedom is generally easy to follow, and phrases such as “On the other hand” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of your argument. Some connections between ideas are less clear or mechanical. For example, the account of a killing and subsequent unrest is lengthy but its relationship to curfew policy is not made explicit. The sentence about mobile-phone use, socialising and work life also moves between several effects without clearly showing how they connect. Use topic sentences to establish each paragraph’s main point, then explain and support that point before moving on.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “freedom and independence,” “detrimental impact,” “socialise” and “peace of mind.” These choices allow you to discuss both safety and personal development. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, and some phrases are not natural in context: “prohibted,” “threatning,” “accompained,” “taking anything on a serious note” and “put detrimental impact” weaken precision. “Responsible young ones” is also less suitable for a formal essay than “responsible teenagers.” Aim to learn accurate spelling alongside common collocations, and choose precise terms for the policy and its effects. This would make your vocabulary more flexible and natural while preserving the clear meaning of most of your points.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a conditional structure in “if they are accompanied with an adult” and a contrast introduced by “although.” Most of the argument remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. Examples include “In some parts of United States” (article use), “after a certain hours” (number agreement), and “government took serious steps” (article and tense). There are also sentence-boundary and punctuation problems, such as the comma splice in “I disagree with strict restrictions government should take more steps.” Capitalisation and apostrophe use need attention too, as in “responsible young ones.” Practise checking articles, verb forms, agreement and sentence boundaries, while continuing to use varied sentence structures.
