Student answer (Band 5.5)

'Curfew' state that in US many youth meeting together for protecting people from violance in which they have to be at home for limited period of time at night. This situation has many prons and cons which discuss in this essay.

Firstly, youth curfew is very crucial situation in some regions in US. In which parents have to control their children's late night outings. In nights many violent incidents happen in public places by mafias and they influence teenagers for do illegal activities at night. For example, In the recent newspaper article, police caught a one gang, they doing child trafficking at night. Many youngsters distributes drugs at night. Moreover, teenagers not have much sense of illegal activities and they can easily influence by others for some money. Many girls be a part of this nuisance, and thier families have to face serious consequences. Thus, it is necessary for juveniles to go outside at night with a family member who fully understands society.

On the other hand, people are concern about youth freedom. Because they already face many restrictions in their life, these rules make them feel isolated. For instance, they cannot travel alone or live independently. But I think these rules have been created to bring safety to our teenagers. Additionally, they don’t even at this stage forever, they will soon grow up and understand the logical reason behind it.

In conclusion, I believe that some limitation rules can reduce the rate of crime and violent news, such as those rules we had during the COVID-19 pandemic. Families must explain the law and situations to their children for better understanding and obeying them.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you support curfews because you believe they protect teenagers from crime, while acknowledging concerns about freedom. The discussion of trafficking, drugs and teenagers being influenced by others is relevant, and the COVID-19 comparison offers a further example. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For instance, the claim that curfews reduce crime would be stronger if you explained how restricting late-night outings prevents harm, and the freedom argument is brief, with little detail about its effects on young people. The opening also describes the policy somewhat unclearly. Develop both sides with specific reasoning and make the link between each example and your opinion explicit.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting curfews, a counterargument, and a conclusion. Sequencing phrases such as “Firstly,” “On the other hand,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. The opening sentence does not clearly define the curfew, and “In which parents have to control…” is a fragment rather than a complete continuation. Within the first body paragraph, the examples move quickly from mafias to trafficking, drugs and girls without clearly showing how each supports the central point. Use clearer references and transitions, and organise each paragraph around one main idea followed by explanation and an example.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “curfew,” “violent incidents,” “child trafficking,” “isolated,” and “independently.” These choices help communicate the subject and show attempts to use more specific language. However, inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling sometimes make the meaning less natural or precise: “prons and cons,” “violent news,” and “many youth meeting together” are examples. There are also spelling errors such as “violance” and “thier.” Aim for standard, precise expressions and check spelling carefully. For example, describe the policy as a restriction on teenagers’ late-night movement, and use “crime rates” rather than “the rate of crime” where appropriate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “On the other hand” and a reason clause beginning “Because.” Some sentence patterns communicate your ideas successfully, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction remain noticeable. Examples include “Curfew state,” “teenagers not have much sense,” and “they don’t even at this stage forever,” where the intended meaning is difficult to follow. “In which parents have to control…” is also an incomplete sentence. Practise forming complete clauses with a clear subject and verb, and check tense and agreement in each sentence. More accurate control of these patterns would make your argument easier to read.
