Student answer (Band 6.0)

Teenagers are not allowed to get out of their homes after particular time at night unless they stay with an adult in some part of the US. In my opinion, these restriction are imposed by the parents for the safety of their children.

Nowadays, the crime rate is drastically increasing in US, which includes robbery, assault and mugging. Children going out alone without any adult accompaning can give these bad people an opportunity to steal or halm them. Moreover, there are many illegal places open at night which promotes these teenagers to visit and try things like alcohol and drugs. For instance, we had a boy in our colony who used to go to these parties and overdosed a drug and needed to be hospitalized for few days.

On the other hand, there are some children who feels excess pressure from their parents and can have negative impact in their mind. Teenagers also prefer to visit their friend's house to study or play indoor games instead of being alone at home. This can be beneficial at younger age because it creates some good qualities like teamwork and communication skills.

In my opinion, the restriction to be out of doors at night should be imposed to teenagers in some part of US as, it prevents them to learn any negative things and also protect from any adverse incidents. Good social skills can also be learned at school or any other events rather than at night.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear: you support curfews because they can protect teenagers from crime and harmful activities. You address both sides by acknowledging parental pressure and the value of visiting friends, and the example of a teenager being hospitalised after taking drugs makes one point concrete. However, the discussion of the opposing view is less developed, and the response does not fully distinguish a curfew imposed by authorities from restrictions set by parents; the opening says parents impose them, while the task describes a curfew in some areas. The final claim that curfews should apply in parts of the US would benefit from clearer reasoning about who should impose them and how they should be applied. The response is also six words below the required minimum.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph supporting curfews, a paragraph presenting a counterpoint, and a concluding opinion. The transitions “Moreover” and “On the other hand” help signal how ideas relate, and the example is placed alongside the point it supports. Some links are less precise, however. The opening connects the curfew to parental restrictions, while the conclusion refers to restrictions in parts of the US, leaving the policy being discussed somewhat unclear. Within the final paragraph, the move from social skills to the claim that they can be learned elsewhere is understandable but could be developed more smoothly. Use clearer references and connect each example explicitly to the argument it illustrates.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of topic vocabulary, including “crime rate,” “robbery,” “assault,” “overdosed,” and “communication skills.” These choices make the main ideas clear, and the example adds specificity. There are also some inaccurate or unnatural choices that limit precision: “bad people” is vague, “illegal places” does not clearly describe the venues you mean, and “negative things” is too general for the conclusion. Spelling errors such as “accompaning” and “halm” are noticeable, although the intended meanings can be inferred. Aim for more precise, natural collocations and check spelling carefully; this would make your argument sound more controlled without requiring unnecessarily advanced vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex forms, including the relative clause “which includes robbery, assault and mugging” and the conditional idea about teenagers going out alone. Most sentences remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “these restriction are” has a plural agreement error, “children who feels” has incorrect subject–verb agreement, and “at particular time” needs an article. The final sentence also has a long structure in which the relationship between the restriction, prevention, and protection is not expressed accurately. Practise checking agreement, articles, and sentence patterns, especially when combining several ideas. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen control.
