Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, crimes increase day by day. In US, there are few areas in which children are not allowed to go outside in night and if they want to go outside they can go with any adult. i think this is good rule for childrens safety.

There are alot of reasons why government make this rule. First reason of this is safety. it cannot deying that crime increase very sharply in US and Canada and news chanals show that on regular basis that gangstar kills someone or do shot on any cafe or on a building. so, teenagers donot know how to save them self in this time and this is good for their safety.

second reason of this is increase in drugs. to explain it, in big countries such as US and Canada, there is highest ratio of drugs then other countries and in this age children love to try something new and different and if someone start dong drugs ones then they become habcual of drugs. As a result, this is for make teenagers life better and good.

In conclusion, some people think that if children didnot go alone out side then how they will learn to face challange in their daily life but i think that this is 'curfew' is good for there safety and this can make there life very happy.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your opinion is clear: you support curfews because they may protect teenagers from crime and drugs. These are relevant reasons, and you briefly acknowledge the opposing view that young people need to learn to face challenges. However, the response addresses the task only partially because the reasons are asserted rather than developed with specific explanation or a relevant example. For instance, the claims about crime in the US and Canada and drug use are broad, and no personal or other concrete example is provided. The conclusion repeats your position but does not add support. The response is also 26 words below the required minimum, so there is limited space to explain your ideas. Develop each reason and address the counterargument more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body sections give reasons, and a conclusion restates your opinion. Sequencing words such as “First,” “second reason,” “As a result,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main points. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and the second reason is not clearly connected to the claim that curfews improve teenagers’ lives. Some references are also unclear, as in “this is for make teenagers life better,” while the long sentences combine several ideas without clear boundaries. Use paragraphing consistently and connect each explanation directly to its main point. More precise transitions and clearer sentence divisions would make the progression easier to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “curfew,” “safety,” “crime,” “drugs,” and “teenagers.” There are also attempts to express more specific ideas, such as “gangstar” and “ratio of drugs,” but several choices are inaccurate or unnatural and sometimes make the meaning harder to understand. Spelling errors such as “chanals,” “habcual,” and “challange,” along with informal or imprecise phrases like “do shot” and “something new and different,” limit the accuracy and range of your vocabulary. Aim for standard collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, describe a rise in crime and explain that teenagers may be exposed to drug use, rather than relying on unclear phrasing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a conditional structure in “if they want to go outside they can go with any adult” and a result clause beginning “As a result.” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. Errors in sentence boundaries and capitalisation appear in “i think” and “so, teenagers”; there are also problems with articles, agreement, and verb forms, as in “government make this rule” and “if children didnot go.” These errors recur and can make some sentences difficult to read, although your overall meaning is usually recoverable. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea each, then add subordinate clauses and check subject–verb agreement, articles, and punctuation.
