Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Sir or Madam,

I writing this letter to inform you about my experience in your hotel first of all the location of the hotel is very good at the center in the downtown near casino and next to the beach. Secondly the folks enjoy the party very much they love to organise more this type of events in this place because it very easy to reach and last it is budget friendly and rate of the party or event can change and flexible for the event organizer.

Although there are some people looking for vegan food but they do not have much options available to eat and I talk to chefs in the kitchen he told me, that he cannot make vegan cuisuine therefore, I strongly recommend you that you can include the items for menu so it will beneficial for the people and it also help to increase the taste and add new flavour in the hotel

Thank you

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You cover the three main points: you praise the hotel’s central location and accessibility, explain that vegan choices were limited, and recommend adding suitable menu items. These details make the letter relevant to the task. However, the positive feedback is not always clearly tied to the hotel itself: “the folks enjoy the party” and the comments about flexible event rates are less directly responsive to what meeting participants liked. The complaint is also quite narrow, and the proposed improvement is brief and not specific about how the hotel could provide better food. Develop these points more clearly—for example, mention the quality of the venue or service, and suggest offering a varied menu that includes vegan dishes and checking dietary needs in advance.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a broadly understandable order: it first describes positive features, then introduces the food complaint with “Although,” and ends with a recommendation and sign-off. This gives the reader a coherent overall arrangement. However, the first paragraph is a long sequence of points joined mainly by “first of all,” “Secondly,” and “and last,” so the progression feels somewhat mechanical. The relationship between the meeting, the party, and the event rates is not always clear, and the second paragraph combines the complaint and recommendation in one extended sentence. Use separate, focused paragraphs for the hotel’s strengths, the food problem, and the proposed action, with clearer links between each idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough task-related vocabulary to communicate the main message, including “location,” “vegan food,” “menu,” and “event organizer.” There are also attempts to use more specific language, such as “budget friendly” and “flexible.” However, several choices or forms are inaccurate or unnatural, including “much options,” “vegan cuisuine,” “rate of the party,” and “add new flavour in the hotel.” These errors sometimes make the intended meaning less precise. Aim for natural collocations and accurate spelling: for example, refer to “a range of vegan options,” “the event booking rate,” and “introduce new dishes to the menu.” This would make the letter clearer and more professional.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the reader can generally follow the main ideas. However, errors occur frequently and sometimes make the sentences difficult to process. The opening, “I writing this letter,” is missing an auxiliary verb; “because it very easy to reach” needs a subject and verb; and “it also help” has incorrect agreement. There are also problems with articles and plurals, as in “they do not have much options,” and punctuation is weak in the long sentence beginning “Although there are some people.” Practise forming complete clauses and checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. For example: “Some participants wanted vegan food, but there were not many options available.”
