Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You mentioned the positive aspects of the hotel, explained the serious issue regarding the food, and provided a suggestion for improvement. However, the tone is somewhat inconsistent; while you use formal openings, phrases like 'with bad heart' are not standard in professional correspondence. Additionally, the claim that participants liked the food presentation and aroma contradicts your later statement that the food was not worthwhile. To improve, ensure your ideas are consistent throughout the letter and maintain a professional, objective tone suitable for a formal complaint to a business manager.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is logically organized, with each paragraph addressing a specific part of the prompt. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. Transitions between sentences are occasionally abrupt, such as the jump from the positive aspects of the hotel to the severe health issues caused by the food. The paragraphing is also underdeveloped; the entire body of the letter is essentially one block of text. To reach a higher band, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in light of this') to improve the flow and clearly separate your points into distinct paragraphs.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, but there are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect collocations. For example, 'disgruntled customer' is used correctly, but 'with bad heart' is not a natural English expression. 'Food poisonings' should be 'food poisoning' (uncountable), and 'hospitalized over the night' is better phrased as 'hospitalized overnight'. While you attempt to use more sophisticated vocabulary, the inaccuracies in word choice occasionally draw attention to themselves. Focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that your word choices are appropriate for a formal business context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

Your writing contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. Issues include missing articles ('hospitalized over the night'), incorrect verb forms ('there must be check'), and punctuation errors, such as spaces before commas. Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage also need attention (e.g., 'cause food poisoning' vs 'caused by food poisoning'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the text from reaching a higher band. Focus on proofreading for basic grammar rules, particularly article usage and sentence structure, to improve your accuracy.
