Dear Sir,

I am writing to provide my feedback regarding the all-day meeting I recently organized at your hotel last Sunday.

Overall, I had a pleasent experienced. The meeting room was clean, spacious and well ventilated. The organization of chairs and tables were amazing. All my colleagues were appreciating hospitality of your hotel staff. The Staff were polite, helpful and always ready to assist guests. Additionally the projector and sound system were excellent and worked flawlessly throughout the meeting. However, I would like to draw your attention to one area that requires improvement. Most of the attendees were dissatisfied with the quality of food. The meals served by hotel were not tasty and the ingredients used appeared to be of poor quality.

I kindly request to you review your food standards and use good quality of spices that enhance the flavour of food. As well as take necessary steps to improve the quality of the meals served to guests.

I hope you will take this feedback into consideration and make the necessary improvement.

Yours faithfully,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points required by the task. You clearly identified the positive aspects of the hotel, explained the specific issues regarding the food, and provided a constructive suggestion for improvement. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands the purpose of your correspondence. To reach a higher band, you could provide slightly more specific detail about the food (e.g., mentioning a specific dish or the temperature) to make your feedback feel more authentic and impactful.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'Additionally' and 'However' to transition between ideas. While the structure is clear, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that paragraph breaks are used more effectively to separate distinct points. For instance, the transition from the positive feedback to the negative feedback is functional, but could be smoother with more sophisticated signposting. Overall, the message is easy to follow and the progression of ideas is logical.

Lexical Resource — Band 7.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'dissatisfied', 'flawlessly', and 'hospitality'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'pleasent experienced' (should be 'pleasant experience') and 'appreciating hospitality' (should be 'appreciating the hospitality'). While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precision. To improve, focus on using more varied adjectives and ensuring that articles (a/an/the) are used correctly with nouns. You have a sufficient range to convey your meaning clearly throughout the letter.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('The organization of chairs and tables were amazing' should be 'was amazing') and missing articles ('The Staff were polite' should be 'The staff were polite'). Additionally, 'I kindly request to you review' is grammatically incorrect; it should be 'I kindly request that you review'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. Increasing your control over complex sentence structures and proofreading for basic agreement errors will help you achieve a higher score.
