Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
I am writing this letter about how’s my experience in your hotel during my meeting at your venue . So i fixed the whole day meeting for business purposes at your hotel with our staff last week.
First thing that me and my colleagues like most is peaceful environment and secondly the setting arrangements that was very comfortable for seating full day without any issue and finally about the staff members they provide everything on time without any disturbance and talking with everyone in a polite way they don’t feel frustrated.
Here I mentione one thing that my staff were not happy with that was food specifically with lunch they were not satisfied with lunch because vegetables and rice are not cooked properly also they find taste is not very good they said food is not making right now because it’s smells like old. I suggest you that you should improve your food quality and provide good and fresh food to their customers.
I hope you can understand and doing good next time. All the best.
yours sincerely,
Parman

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points of the prompt: the positive aspects of the hotel, the issues with the food, and suggestions for improvement. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat basic. For example, the explanation of why the food was unsatisfactory is repetitive and lacks professional tone. While the task is fully addressed, the tone is inconsistent for a formal letter to a manager, and the ideas could be expanded with more specific detail to reach a higher band. The letter follows the required format and covers all necessary requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and sometimes mechanical. Phrases like 'First thing that me and my colleagues like' and 'finally about the staff members' are used to transition, but the flow between sentences is often choppy. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall progression of ideas feels a bit disjointed. More sophisticated linking words and better sentence-to-sentence connection would improve the coherence of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety expected at higher levels. There is a reliance on simple, repetitive language such as 'good', 'nice', and 'happy'. Some word choices are unnatural or incorrect, such as 'setting arrangements' instead of 'seating arrangements' or 'making right now' instead of 'freshly prepared'. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of a wider range of vocabulary and the presence of some awkward collocations limit the score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede readability. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('vegetables and rice are not cooked'), missing articles, and incorrect verb tenses ('they find taste is not very good'). The sentence structure is often informal and lacks the control required for a formal letter. While the errors do not completely prevent understanding, they are frequent enough to be noticeable throughout the text.
