Dear Sir or Madam,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Mr. Pignatelli,
My name is Twinkal Bodala. I was a event organiser for the company namely Tree Valley Garden Centre at the Hotel Crecent. All people who had joined the all day meeting at the hotel were happy about postive atmosphere of hotel itself but they were quite disappointed with their experience with served food items for the lunch.
People were overly impressed with interior of the hotel, as the hotel contains varieties of paintings from different era of times; also the engravings of the hotel is quite unique and was catching attension of so many participents. Not only that, the hotel staff was friendly and welcoming. The one participent who was constantly caughing, one of the your staff member namely Pallavi had handled situation very gently and smartly.
However, the served food items during the lunch time was aweful for so many participents was unhappy as they found out the food was a day old and had some unpleasant smell which was making them uncomfortable to eat. Additionally, you people did change the main menu which was provided by me, have created brand new menu which I was not awared of. I removed the all sea foods by taking reviews of participents but the hotel had added those items despite of my strict instructions.
Next time please do not go against my suggestions regading the food servings if you want business from me. Please maintain professional behaviour from your side if you want to keep healthy image in the market. I want my full refund for lunch items. Please write me your response in the five business days of this letter or I will sue your hotel for misrepresentation.
Yours sincerely
Twinkal Bodala

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: the positive aspects of the hotel, the issues with the food, and a suggestion for improvement. However, the tone of the letter is problematic. While you are expressing a complaint, the final paragraph is overly aggressive and threatening (e.g., 'I will sue your hotel'). In a formal letter, even when dissatisfied, it is important to maintain a professional and polite tone to ensure your request is taken seriously. The task is fully addressed, but the tone is not consistently appropriate for a formal business complaint.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, with each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Additionally', and 'Not only that'. However, the flow is occasionally disrupted by awkward phrasing and some mechanical errors in referencing. For example, the transition between the praise for the staff and the complaint about the food is abrupt. The use of paragraphing is clear, but the overall progression of ideas could be smoother with more varied linking words and better control over sentence structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, but there are several instances of imprecise word choice and spelling errors. For example, you use 'aweful' (awful), 'caughing' (coughing), and 'awared' (aware). Phrases like 'catching attension' and 'healthy image in the market' are slightly unnatural in this context. While the vocabulary is adequate to communicate your points, there is a lack of precision and some errors that occasionally distract the reader. To reach a higher band, focus on accurate spelling and more natural collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include incorrect article usage (e.g., 'the interior of the hotel', 'the lunch time'), subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the served food items... was aweful'), and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'have created brand new menu which I was not awared of'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. You should focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article consistency.
