Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing regarding the all-day meeting that our company recently organised at your hotel .Although the participants were generally pleased with the facilities, they expressed some disappointment with the lunch that was provided.

Overall we are all satisfied with your services and your hotel received positive feed back. In addition, your meeting hall is sapacious and comfortable, and all the management is well-organised.

consequently, the location was also convenient appreciated by the participants, the staff of your hotel is also polite and professional.

Unfortunately, the lunch did not meet their expectations. many dishes were no longer hot. Moreover, there was a limited variety of food., several participants also felt that the quality of food was below the standard they expected from the hotel.

I would therefore suggest that you review your lunch arrangmentsfor future eventsproviding wider range of fresh dishes and ensuring that food is served hot and on time would significantly improve guests experience.

I hope you will consider these suggestions and take appropriate measures in the future.

Yours faithfully,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly identified the positive aspects of the hotel, explained the specific issues with the lunch (temperature and variety), and provided constructive suggestions for improvement. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter of complaint, and the purpose is clear from the outset. To reach a higher band, ensure that the development of ideas is more balanced; for instance, the explanation of the food issues could be slightly more detailed to fully flesh out the impact on the participants. Overall, the task requirements are well-met.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter follows a logical structure with clear paragraphing. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'consequently', and 'Moreover' to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or abrupt, such as the start of the third paragraph ('consequently, the location was also convenient...'). Additionally, there are some minor issues with punctuation and sentence boundaries, such as the comma splice in the third paragraph. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring more sophisticated use of linking words would enhance the overall coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'facilities', 'disappointment', 'professional', and 'expectations'. There are a few spelling errors, such as 'sapacious' (spacious), 'feed back' (feedback), and 'arrangmentsfor' (arrangements for). While these do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more careful proofreading. To improve, try to incorporate more precise collocations or slightly more sophisticated vocabulary to elevate the tone, such as using 'inadequate' instead of 'limited' or 'culinary experience' instead of 'food'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, including missing articles ('the staff of your hotel'), subject-verb agreement issues, and punctuation errors (e.g., 'arrangmentsfor future eventsproviding'). The sentence 'consequently, the location was also convenient appreciated by the participants' is grammatically awkward. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy. Focusing on sentence construction and proofreading for basic grammatical slips will help you achieve a higher score.
