Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam
I hope you are doing in your life. I'm Ankit Khadelwal co-founder of watermarc, recently me and my team visited for the meeting purpose last week. I hope you must be aware of it.
There are several things which my team appreciate regarding your hotel and staff. One of them is your interior design of hotel which is brilliant infact my design team will also going to take inspiration from your hotel design in the upcoming projects. Apart from this your staff services are commendable they all were really helpful and cooperative on that day and the smiling face gives us positivity for work.
However, my was not happy wirth the food which was serve on that day. The reason behind that the food must be very delicious if that was not cold. Due to that the taste of food has been gone. And from the behalf of company I would like to suggest that the food must be checked before serving to guests because that might leads to degradation of your hotel.
I believe you will work on your hotel mistakes and we might work together in future. Looking forward for that.
Thank you
Ankit Khandelwal

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You successfully identified what was liked (interior design and staff service), explained the issue with the food (it was served cold), and provided a suggestion for improvement (checking food quality before service). The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the opening is slightly informal. The ideas are relevant and clearly stated, fulfilling the requirements of the task effectively. To reach a higher band, ensure that the explanation of the food issue is more precise and professional in its phrasing.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited and occasionally mechanical. For instance, the transition 'Apart from this' is used correctly, but the overall flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect sentences more fluidly. Referencing is generally clear, but some sentences feel slightly disjointed due to the lack of sophisticated cohesive markers.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'commendable', 'cooperative', and 'degradation'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and minor errors, such as 'meeting purpose' instead of 'for a meeting' and 'the taste of food has been gone' instead of 'the quality of the food was ruined'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over collocations and idiomatic expressions to achieve a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'my was not happy wirth' (typo and missing noun), 'food must be very delicious if that was not cold' (awkward conditional structure), and 'that might leads to' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with commas. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of conditional sentences, as these errors occur frequently throughout the text.
