Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir or Madam,
I hope this email finds you well.
I am writing to give you reviews about our company meeting which was held in your hotel last weekend.
We did meetings all day as we got the conference hall was on affordable price. The cost includes comfortable seats area along with easy plugging to projector that makes the presentations more convenient to present. Moreover, the sound and air system was also very good as it helps to conveys the idea to the audience more clearly.
The one thing which was not satisfied our clients is the quality of the food. We arranged the buffet for 100 people but the food quality was so bad everything tastes bitter and spicy. I remembered we request for mild spices while booking for the event but still the food was spicy and that spoil the overall experience of the meeting as most of our clients leave without having lunch.
I hope you considered our feedback and improve your food quality for future events.
Thanks, and regards
Jashan

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: you mentioned the positive aspects of the hotel, explained the issues with the food, and provided a suggestion for improvement. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter. However, some ideas could be more fully developed. For instance, while you mention the food was 'bitter and spicy', explaining the specific nature of the buffet or the impact on the meeting schedule would have added more depth. Overall, the response is relevant and covers the requirements of the prompt effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Moreover' and 'The one thing which', to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally slightly mechanical. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'that' or 'which') is always precise. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter, which helps the reader follow your argument easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'conference hall', 'presentations', and 'buffet'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'easy plugging to projector' (should be 'easy access to the projector') and 'helps to conveys' (should be 'helps to convey'). While these errors do not impede communication, they prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise adjectives and formal collocations would be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'We did meetings' (should be 'We held meetings'), 'the sound and air system was' (should be 'were'), and 'most of our clients leave' (should be 'left'). Additionally, there are issues with verb tense consistency and subject-verb agreement. While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding of your main points. To improve, focus on proofreading for basic tense consistency and pluralization.
