Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Mr Kapoor,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to inform you that I organised full-day meeting in your hotel last week, and our all clients were amazed by almost every arrangements except food services.

Our all participants were astonished by warm welcome of your receptionists and their assistance in order to reach to the meeting hall. Moreover, comfortable seating arrangements, welcome drinks services, decoration of stage and ventilation facilities significantly enhanced their experience during full-day business conference. Additionally, they are surprised by modern interior of hotel, approachable receptionists and classic furniture, which caught their attention while they entered in the hotel.

After spending long hours in the full-day meetings, they were hunger and wanted to have some delicious and tempting meals. However, availability of limited food menu like chicken curry, flat bread, veg salad and buttermilk had unable to fulfil their hungerness and makes them less-energetic for the following meetings. Also, vegetarian clients experienced frustration that time.

I suggest you to add a number of diverse cultural cuisines such as Mexican, Italian, Chinese and so on in the food menu along with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options in order to meet the demands of every visitors of your hotel and strengthen corporal reputation among the society.

I hope my suggestions will be helpful to you in order to improve your professional reputation and build strong bonding with your clients in the future. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Yours faithfully,

Twinkle

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly identified what was liked (reception, seating, decor), explained the dissatisfaction with the food (limited menu, lack of variety, impact on energy), and provided constructive suggestions for improvement. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter, and the purpose is clear throughout. The ideas are well-developed and relevant to the context of a business meeting. To reach a higher band, ensure that the opening salutation matches the prompt's instruction; you used 'Dear Mr Kapoor' instead of the required 'Dear Sir or Madam'.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your argument easily. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Additionally', and 'However' to link your points. While the flow is generally good, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate the different requirements of the task, contributing to a coherent overall structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message with precision. Phrases like 'significantly enhanced their experience' and 'professional reputation' are used effectively. However, there are some noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'our all clients' (should be 'all our clients'), 'they were hunger' (should be 'they were hungry'), and 'fulfil their hungerness' (should be 'satisfy their hunger'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the score as they show a lack of control over more complex lexical items.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this task. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'almost every arrangements' (should be 'almost every arrangement'), 'availability of limited food menu... had unable' (should be 'was unable'), and 'every visitors' (should be 'every visitor'). While these errors are frequent, they rarely cause confusion or impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and pluralization.
