Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir or Madam,
giving a review about the overall hotel, where we stayed recently!
I hope you are feeling well. I want to tell you that I recently booked a hall for my company's meeting party in your hotel. Overall every participants liked the ambience, construction, space and condition of the hotel and the arrangement of our meeting from your side such as providing water facilities and comfortable facilities of chairs, stage, mike and speakers, which felt comfortable to each and every individuals.
Apart from arrangement of meeting, some attendant feel the food is preserved one instead of cooking fresh one and because of the only reason some of them felt illness. Personally, I tasted some of items of the menu, which felt dislike one.
Overall, everyone feels good vibes in your hotel but I want to suggest to the manager please replace the cook or food delivery provider for your hotel, which attract and fully satisfied by attendant to your hotel weather it is for party or meeting like we did.
Best regards,
Smit.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You successfully identified the positive aspects of the hotel, explained the issue with the food, and provided a suggestion for improvement. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter, although the opening sentence is fragmented and lacks clarity. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are fully developed; for instance, explaining the specific nature of the food quality issues would add more depth. Overall, the task is addressed clearly, and the purpose of the letter is evident throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of your argument. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Apart from' and 'Overall', to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing and sentence structure, such as the opening line. The use of referencing is sometimes unclear, for example, 'which felt dislike one' is grammatically confusing and disrupts the cohesion of the paragraph. Improving the transition between sentences and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer to their antecedents will help improve the overall flow and coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'ambience', 'facilities', and 'preserved'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'meeting party', 'attendant' (when you mean attendees), and 'felt illness'. The phrase 'felt dislike one' is not standard English and impedes clarity. To improve, focus on using collocations correctly and expanding your range of descriptive adjectives. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message, the errors in word choice prevent a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('some attendant feel'), incorrect article usage, and awkward phrasing ('which attract and fully satisfied by attendant'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the opening sentence is a fragment. While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. Focusing on basic sentence construction and ensuring consistent verb tenses will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
