Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response attempts to address all three bullet points, but the execution is significantly hindered by unclear expression. While you mention that participants liked the hotel and were unhappy with the food, the reasons provided for the dissatisfaction are difficult to follow due to fragmented sentences and confusing vocabulary. The suggestion for improvement is also vague. To improve, ensure that each bullet point is addressed with clear, logical sentences that directly answer the prompt. Currently, the ideas are not sufficiently developed, making it difficult for the reader to understand the specific nature of the complaint or the requested solution.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The letter is divided into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is disjointed. Many sentences do not connect logically to the previous ones, and the use of cohesive devices is either missing or misused (e.g., 'that's reason like handle about the hotel'). The referencing is often unclear, making it difficult to follow the narrative. To improve, focus on using transition words like 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' or 'however' to link your ideas, and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus that relates back to the prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very limited and often used incorrectly, which frequently impedes communication. Phrases like 'good think for our us manage' and 'greater idea to deserves' are non-standard and obscure the meaning. There is a lack of appropriate collocations for a formal letter of complaint. To improve, you should study common phrases used in business correspondence, such as 'I am writing to express my dissatisfaction regarding...' or 'I would suggest that you consider...'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise, context-appropriate terms is essential for reaching a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that make the text difficult to read. There are issues with basic sentence structure, verb tense consistency, and word order (e.g., 'I am writing regarding a held our all-day meeting'). Many sentences are fragmented or lack a clear subject-verb relationship. There is very little evidence of complex sentence structures. To improve, focus on mastering simple, error-free sentences first. Practice subject-verb agreement and ensure that your sentences contain a clear subject, verb, and object before attempting more complex grammatical forms.
